Japanese movie Suspect X was the original version and that was released on 2008. After that the movie is remaked in Korean named as The perfect Number released on 2012 .Inspired from these movies drishyam was made in malayalam.if u did'nt watch these original version go for it .Vijay acting could be better and unwanted scenes and songs are spoiled the movie Otherwise it's a good movie go and watch

Vijay A is my fav hero, I dont know why! There is something special about his acting and the script he chooses. It always eerie and mind catching.
Coming to the film, its a good watch, though it ends at 1hr50mins and not as long as a regular Indian movie of 2,10 you might feel its cut short. But the movie is good, a very catching BG score and thrilling performance from Arjun and Vijay makes this movie a good watch.
I go with 7 out of 10 being due to my bias with Vijay but still movie is above 6 anyday, I hear that this is a korean movie remake and hence may be a reason why its cut short not having the regular tamil masala that we generally get to see in typical indian movies.

Really Really Good. One liner story told in an exciting manner. Nice background music. This is better than many movies that are spending crores to present a dud. But, this one is a true master piece. Just go for it and you won't regret it.

The original version of this movie, which is from Japanese SUSPECT X. If you'd watched it you'll know. In original version vijay character is obsessed with the mother of dharani. He's a bachelor, and he's helping that family because of he loved her. But in here Vijay's wife was murdered by a criminal. And after some years he saw the dharani exactly looks like his wife. The reason behind helping that family.
Although it's a fantastic movie.. Action king Arjun done it amazing..

First half of the movie goes very slow, but some of the scenes were interesting and screenplay was good too! Acting of Arjun, Vijay Antony, Nasser & heroine Ashima was very good and these four completely stole the show! Very good thing about this movie was, it was giving clues into how police crack tricky crimes, although it has been portrayed in multiple movies, felt like it was dealt little differently in this movie. Last 45 minutes of the movie was easily predictable and it was very boring too, if they had handled that part well, it would have been a better watch.

Good Movie. Everybody acted very well in the movie. The movie lagged a bit at 1st half. The movie was so interesting and thrilling at 2nd half. The movie had no unwanted scenes or characters. Songs were good in the movie but they were not needed in the movie. BGM was excellent in the movie. The movie had no other genre and it had only thriller throughout in the movie and that made the movie so interesting and thrilling. This movie is one of the Best Tamil Thriller Movie and one of the Best Tamil Movie of 2019. Good Movie.

Arjun Sarja has come a long way from his earlier Sandalwood debut and then finding fame and fan following in Kollywood, having clocked 150 movies to date from his entry to filmdom. Arjun Sarja was also in news pretty recently for the wrong reason, having been named in Me Too allegation by Shruthi Hariharan and had filed a 5 Cr. Defamation suit on her. His films with Shankar (particularly GENTLEMAN and MUDHALAVAN) firmly established him as a action hero to reckon with in Kollywood. He proved his acting skills too pretty well, emoting his sensitive side in Rhythm with Meena as his heroine and also in the Kannada movie Prasad, in 2012 where he has enacted the role of a middle class father of a deaf son whom he helps to overcome his disability to become a swimming champion. He won best actor award for that role. Arjun also has excelled in villainish, schemey roles in Maniratnams KAADAL to establish himself as a truly versatile actor. But his fan following is mostly for his Action/tough cop roles.
This being the background, it was exciting for me to look forward to him as a Cop again in this movie after seeing his cavalier execution of tough cop role pretty effectively that too with Kamal Hasan as his boss in KURUDHI PUNAL which was a remake of Govind Nihalani's DROHKAAL.
In this movie, KOLAIGARAN, Arjun plays the role of upright and tough DCP Kartikeyan with dedication. And he is not the Hero of the movie but he makes sure the attention turns to him from first frame onwards. The movie opens like a typical South Indian movie showing a woman getting murdered and with only the boot strapped legs of the murderer shown along with ominous music and also tunes of title song running in the background obviously. In the next frame you can see Vijay Anthony the protagonist in the movie walking in to the police station saying he has come to surrender since he has committed a murder! Incomes Arjun who doesn't arrest him but takes his statement and when Vijay starts narrating his side, the movie goes to flashback and starts unfolding the plot, subplot, twists, turns and climax. The movie then explains us who is the killer and how the entire equation is unmasked thread bear by Arjun.
This movie is the second adoption (differently) of the Japanese novel - The devotion of suspect X after Drishyam! Like Drishyam this also has some classic twists but the execution falls short of the finesse when compared to Drishyam which was way above in class. May be because the composer turned actor Vijay Anthony is a major reason for that despite finest effort put in by Arjun Sarja. Vijay cant emote and has same expression for all feelings. Be it surprise, romance, despair or grief. But the movie has its fine moments no doubt when the motto behind action, imagination of cops which turn into reality etc are concerned. Nasser plays a very effective & Meaty supporting role as a retired detective, mentoring Arjun Sarja at tricky situations. The heroine Ashima Narwal is ok but she needs to learn few more finer nuances of acting. She definitely has to hone her skills more like Vijay Anthony who has to improvise more than her if he has to remain in acting. Songs are pushed in unnecessarily and the movie would have done better without any songs. But a Tamil movie without songs in unheard of so you have to bear them :-/ The camerawork is nice and editing is also good like many other Tamil capers.
Over all it is an above average movie. Could have definitely been better without any doubt if it was some one else in the place of Vijay Anthony. Kudos to Arjun without a doubt !!

The story flow could have been a bit better than what it was. And the excessive use of same background music irked me after a while. But the story is intriguing and of course, Arjun is the best part of the movie. Vijay Antony's talent, on the other hand, needs a lot of work.

The movie just flows perfectly, everything is executed neatly. This one will definitely seek your undivided attention and you will be more than happy to give the same. This will try to mess with your mind as you try to figure out what is happening, what is going to happen, and what happens in the movie will be a surprise for you. Definitely appreciate the way it is taken, the scenes is stacked up greatly, any discrepancies in the sequence of the sequence would have seriously messed up the movie. Another important aspect is the amount of research they have done to keep the plot holes at bay. Detailing is key in this movie.
The direction and screenplay is awesome. The screenplay especially does a great job in registering the confusing story into your mind.
The cast is good. It rides on the main character played by Arjun, he being an able actor has pulled it off.
The story is the star. The twists and turn will definitely surprise you and will keep you engaged.
Overall an outstanding movie.

Kolaigaran is a crime thriller starring Arjun and Vijay Antony in Lead roles.The movie around Karthikeyan(Arjun) trying to find out about a killer regarding murder. The Story is seems to be intresting but the screenplay doesn't support well resulting in a okay movie. The First half pacing of the movie was slow and only towards the end of the it we get some interesting plot points building upon it is the later part of the movie . The actors have given mediocre performances.The Cinematography looks fine.The BGM offers some support towards the climax of the movie. Overall it is an one time watchable movie.

Crime Thriller films have become the favorite of many Tamil audiences because of the gripping and suspenseful travel throughout the whole crime investigation. Vijay Anthony's Kolaigaran joins the list of the thrillers in Tamil and let's see how it actually worked. Unlike the previous thrillers released in Tamil, Kolaigaran seems to have a strong plot and a screenplay that makes us sit till the end. There's a suspense that is perfectly hidden in the film. It's unpredictable and a perfect mind game. It's a kind of cat and mouse game where Arjun plays the sincere police officer and Vijay Anthony plays the strange man who surprises us with his flashback. Both actors had made a significant impact on the film. They had a strong scope to perform and as well to underplay. Speaking about Vijay Anthony, we see him with the similar shades that he had in Naan (2012). He has a mystery that he hides in himself. He is trying to deviate the police department by pulling of brilliant psychological strategies. Arjun who has done countless police roles in his career plays as an intelligent cop who uses his brain more than his fist. This is a film that doesn't create any unnecessary mass scenes for the leads and just goes with the flow. Kolaigaran differs from the usual commercial format and stands as a unique thriller. The confusion that the director creates throughout the film seems to be an intelligent way to keep the suspense rolling on. Simon K.King's killer background score will keep you hooked which is a must for a thriller film. He adds some intensity that even hides the overall flaws in this film. The flaws don't seem the cause any problem with the pace and the main plot. Overall, Kolaigaran is a crime thriller that has everything to keep you thrilled till the end.

The movie begins with a scene where a girl is murdered by man (shown blurryily). So, the first 20-25 minutes of the movie was pretty boring. But, the last 30 minutes is full of twists that will keep you at the edge of your seat (atleasy it made me). The twist was really good, even though the movie got off to shaky (literally-the camera at times) start. The sequemces are really confusing at first but as you wait to see the climax, the confusion is all cleared up. The songs were unnecessary. At the end, the movie emds on a good note.

Kudos to team for presenting such intense drama and thrilling experience. Back ground music tells its own story, really captivating while watching the movies, congrats to vijay antony. story credits have been given to highly acclaimed the devotion of suspect X, in loosely adapted manner. the Japanese novel is one of kind twist, which was powerful and engaging devotion in the whole. for making it unpredictable, writer has made some changes in the story for tamil adaptation, its a valid one, but not as potent in the novel of keigo higashino. Tamil version has implemented the original climax from japan, which was intense compared to Indian version. from my point of view, in the original version, hero and the detective had a deep connection right from childhood, that made a intriguing game between them, which made the hero to change his course to fool the latter, in Tamil version, it was merely a same occupation ,which made a huge gap between them and also the hero sacrificing everything just for the resemblances of the heroine, is not as much convincing than the original, where the hero sacrificed it for his own secret love and both mother and daughter saved him from the point of suicide, gave him the hope of living further, seeing his life in a new light. It would have been better, if they have adopted the original as it is, with minor changes. while watching it in theater, there was mixed response from the audience view, as they have adopted the original ending, which have a subtle ending, like every japan movies and novels. this movie is full of lively thing right from music and acting. more films must be adopted from other language film, instead of going for routine masala flicks. this film will be benchmark for vijay antony, i highly recommend everyone to savor it in theater to move to edge of seat and experience it.

An investigative crime mystery.
Slow narration of first half which is just an average. Second half is very good and keeps you engaged throughout. Speed breaker of the movie is couple of unwanted songs and are poorly crafted. An interesting screenplay and well written script that holds the suspense until the end. BGM top notch. Vijay Antony and Action King Arjun are the 2 gems of the movie. After many succession of failure movies, "Kolaigaran" is a great comeback movie to Vijay Antony. Overall a decent watchable.
