The writing has greatly improved!
Top_Dawg_Critic6 March 2019
The writing has greatly improved! The silly and sometimes infantile writing has changed to more serious real-life police work with less cheesy scenes, and the last handful of episodes show that with great writing. The creativeness and major shifts in typical writing has really upped the level for this series, and this episode (as well as the last) are two of my favorites thus far. I hope they keep up this trend! Also, PLEASE replace the clearly fake guns with some better props... it's annoying to be looking down a .177 cal bb gun barrel (you can see the bronze recessed inner barrel). Nathan, complain for this fellow Canadian to get this issue resolved, and keep up the great work sir!

It's too bad...

This was a great episode. Exciting action, excellent pace, a likeable new character; everything you need for a great episode. It's just too bad the writers couldn't just write a good action show without slipping in some political propaganda. In this case, painting gunowners as idiots. Hollywood never ceases to dissappoint.

The Fugitives
claudio_carvalho1 November 2021
The rookies and police officers of Sgt. Grey's station are trained by the consultant Jessica Russo in a suicide bomber situation. Out of the blue, the Police Department is warned of a prison bus crash with death, injuries, and escapees and all the available personnel is set in motion to catch the criminals and help the victims, including Jessica. After the fast action of the police, there are only two fugitives that may have breached the perimeter set by the police and Bradford and Chen and Nolan and Bishop are involved in dangerous situations.

"Manhunt" is the best of the latest episodes of "The Rookie". The plot is well-written and engaging, specially when Lucy and Tim are surrounded by the dangerous gang. My vote is nine.

Great Episode

I thoroughly enjoyed it! The ending was silly and cute, but the rest was action-packed. Does anyone know the song that starts around 5:50 mark? I've used everything I can think of to figure out what it is, but it doesn't seem possible.

Give it a break

The predictable red hat wearing gun toting 'bigots' vigilante group PC drivel put a huge dent in a series I have given a solid 8 for.

I'm British and don't care either way about US politics, but this scene was beyond the pale. Dragging the 'illegal' out of the bushes yelling 'I got one', pathetic.

Please keep political propaganda out of entertainment. It's so very tiresome.

Typical drivel

So predictable to denigrate armed citizens as idiots and racists. TV writers have a ideological agenda that is par for the course.

PC and predictable
richardofearth15 March 2019
The writing and directing on the show is so terrible. The predictable plot plus the politically correct nonsense is irritating to the extreme. I am a big fan of Nathan Fillion and I keep watching this show even though I am beginning to hate it. So much action every day and Nolan , West, and Chen are learning so many valuable lessons, it's not even close to realistic. The acting is pretty good with Eric Winter being outstanding and Nathan Fillion being his usual charming self with Afton Williamson as Nolan's Training Officer doing a credible job. However it's too busy making sure every character gets a backstory and a story arc that it falls apart.
