The combination horror, psychedelics, time glitches, cults, love stories, pain, loss, deception, and pure insanity (I'm sure I still forgot something) combine to make this one of the best episodes yet. They are what make Legion... Legion.

Stunning Visuals

David's progression further isolates him from the world, where his few remaining real friends create distance between him. We shall see if he is really the the brilliant genius he thinks he is, or if he has really devolved into madness. Will Division 3 keep blaming him for everything, willfully creating the monster they so desperately seek? Or will they credit him with his success in this episode and help David be a better person? I think the former.
The time demons create some amazing visuals, and they invoke a certain terror in me watching them creepily warp the reality of their victims. The time skips and freezes were really well done I think. And the snapshots of Farkouk & co in the "time beyond time" land was a fresh and interesting format to quickly show the story.

This episode just roared through time so cool so fast as the Time Demons that David has released terrorize him, the world and all! The Time Demons are swallowing time terrorizing David and sending them back to the stone age if they aren't stopped is so awesome in its creepiness! I got chills running through me each time the Time Demons show up. WOW! But the budget must not have allowed them any serious time on screen , but when they do it's just chilling! From this development the crew deserves serious kudos on FX and the players just crazy good! C'mon ! David meets his mother in the camps as he tries to free himself he keeps getting sent back 10 feet! Who will be more powerful in the future if there is one! Then Syd Barrett runs into her younger self! How cool is that?!! But what a surprise! Who's playing who in this crazy scary world keeps me glued to what's gonna happen next!

It's no surprise this is the one episode that Daniel Kwan directed (Director of "Everything Everywhere All At Once"). Thus far into Season 3 I've been somewhat disappointed, but this episode gave me all the magical chills I've been missing since Season One. Season Two was wonderful as well, but S1 just had SO much of that Pink Floydian/Kubrickian magic which hooked me into the show to begin with. The Time Eaters were masterfully done and the whole episode took my brain for a ride like I was on drugs that only this show can produce in droves. I also love the attention to Lenny we got in this episode because she's felt like forgotten background noise in this season (which is awful since she's a monster character). This is by far the best episode for S3 and one of the top 5 best episodes for the whole series.

Did you watch Buffy reruns on FX in the early 2000s? Did you watch anything on FX then? If you did, you saw the commercial for "The Shield" about 10,000 times a day. "Good cop and bad cop left for the day. I'm a different kind of cop" is ingrained into the wrinkles in your brain.
I was watching this episode and this scene from "The Shield" repeats several times, after a few other scenes do too. I thought I was going insane. I became giddy when I figured out what the hell was happening.
What I thought was an inside joke with myself (because I will sometimes repeat that scene in my head over and over for the last 20 years) was used to brilliant effect.
