Klovn (2005–2022)
Fun show, a Danish version of "Curb Your Enthusiasm"
14 February 2005
"Klovn" is a comedy show apparently based on real events. It has a semi-documentary style to it, very much like the innovative American comedy series "Curb Your Enthusiasm". Although very much in its infancy, I must say that "Klovn" looks great, and that is due to the wonderful writing and the fact that the people behind it are Denmarks best comedians - Casper Christensen and Frank Hvam. They continue to take Danish sit-coms to new levels, and "Klovn" is another fine piece of work. So never mind that the idea was not their own to begin with.

The rest of the acting line-up consists of accomplished actors and actresses, for example is Iben Hjelje (High Fidelity) one of the supporting actresses on show here.

If you're fond of real-lifelike, embarrassing situations acted out by very funny people, this is a show you must see.

The Sopranos (1999–2007)
A realistic view of the current mob?
23 September 2004
The Sopranos is a sincere effort to try and describe the life and time of the American mafia today, and whether the description is realistic or not, the series is great. If you like mob stories like The Godfather or other great mob films, you will like this as well. We're currently (in Denmark) in the 5th season bit I reckon this will be a classic in time and hence will be seen on TV for many years to come even after it's finished. There is tremendous drama in this series and it is brought by a group of fantastic actors/actresses.

So if you have the time, you will not regret using it on The Sopranos.

Surprise!
29 July 2004
I am usually very picky about films and rarely watch action movies that don't have a nostalgic value but somehow I tuned into this one and I couldn't take my eyes off it. We're dealing with a flight hi-jacking and the situation has been seen before, but the way this story is told surprised me in a positive way.

It's trying to be realistic, and succeeds! Credits to the screenwriters for writing a story that everyone thinks they've seen before and still keeping the intensity throughout the film. Good acting from Kurt Russel, Oliver Blatt and especially John Leguizamp. This is an action-movie well worth watching. My rating: 7/10

Gladiator (2000)

Impressive stuff
5 October 2000
This has got to be one of the best this year (2000). It's a massive production and the effects shown here is fantastic. Add to this a brilliant cast and excellent story and you have an extraordinary film.

Praise must also be given to the music in it; Hans Zimmer we all know is good at this, but Lisa Gerrard's contribution is remarkable.

Down by Law (1986)
8/10
Jarmusch's best
5 October 2000
It's difficult to say which Jim Jarmusch film is the best considering the high quality the man always delivers, but I think this is it.

"Down By Law" is a film about three sad but beautiful people who end up in a prison cell together. They are of course innocent except for the most innocently behaving of them. Life in jail is not as hard as boring for them, and they break out. Through the Louisiana swamp they try to get away from the prison dogs.....

The film has a story as told above, but it isn't really what it's about. What I love it for is the way we look into the characters and how they get along with each other. The dialogue is so laid-back and pleasant that you almost fall asleep. But you don't, you are just comfortable, very comfortable.

For people who like easy films and films where the dialogues are emphasized, you will love this one.
