The First Lady (2022)
So far I'm liking this very much.
It's great to see all these people in our history as "real people". Gillian Anderson is outstanding.. I'm also learning facts about these First Couples and reminded of history I had forgotten about.
The Power of the Dog (2021)
Took me a minute...
Took me a minute to realize how this was all shaking down , but WOW.
Outstanding performances by all. I wouldn't mind of Kirsten Dunst was awarded the Oscar.
West Side Story (2021)
Very pleasantly surprised
The ensemble numbers are amazing. This is not the same Maria that you are used to. Anita is much more sassier too and I saw it on Broadway with Debbie Allen. Ansel is the perfect Tony, he handles his solos much better than anyone else I've heard. This new script and additional scenes will make you forget what you've known before, especially for the character of Tony.
This movie will be the standard when someone refers to West Side Story from now on. Tony and Maria are much more flushed out and this Maria's voice actually matches the actor. She's amazing.
The new character of Doc's widow is a nice addition. Having Rita Moreno cast is the perfect "wink and a nod" to the original Broadway and movie. The scenes with her and Tony are sweet (she's a master class in acting).
This "Officer Krumpski" is soooooo much better. The past arrangements I thought were annoying and petty, this one is meatier and not as juvenile.
"I want to live in America" number is worth the ticket price alone, it will fill the entire screen and the new choreography gives this song the attention it deserves.
Riff has been given more dialogue and his character you will feel badly for. Bernardo is gruff and harder and you almost won't.
This is not a remake. Even if it takes most from of the Broadway production, it goes much further than the last film script. As I said before "this is the new standard when someone refers to West Side Story".
Nightmare Alley (2021)
A bit sluggish.
A bit sluggish and drawn out. Things don't get moving until the last 15 minutes. Trys to be noir but only succeeds in the Dr. Office scenes. Outstanding supporting cast that carries the movie to it's obvious ending.
Downeast (2021)
Nicely done and acted, you get a real feel for ME
Nice acting with Greg Finely and the rest of the cast. There is real star potential with Dylan Silver, she's funny but capable of showing range. The film really captures the feel of Maine.
Annie Live! (2021)
Celina Smith is adorable
Celina is a great Annie, spunky without being bratty and has a great voice.
I wish the director would have pulled in a way over the top but beautifully singing Taraj.
The Eiger Sanction (1975)
Jeeeze
This movie would NEVER get past the watchdogs now and deservingly so. It's crude racial and gender portrayals are cringe worthy.
The Lucky One (2012)
Cute, predictable Date Movie
Good actors doing the best with meh script and a "I could see that coming a mile away storyline."
The Captive (2014)
Enos
Enos is OUTSTANDING in this. Too bad she was overlooked for award nominations.
Castle in the Ground (2019)
Neve Campbell
Neve Campbell does an excellent job, the rest of the cast does the best they can with the script given. Predictable story that takes waaaay too long to wade through.
Reign Over Me (2007)
As much as I liked this movie...
... Adam Sandler was out of his league. I will give him credit for trying. I could see Mark Ruffalo here, although he's done enough mentally unstable roles.
Prodigal Son (2019)
Love the actors
I can't get enough of Bellamy Young and Michael Sheehan
Tommy (2020)
Better as it gets going
I'm thoroughly enjoying Edie Falco as her story line progresses
