Fanny and Alexander (1982)

Not completely sure about it

First of all movie name need to be changed as just Alexander. I really don't see necessity of Fanny at all.

After that I could have given 7 or 8 for this movie, but it is way too long and has really unnecessary scenes.

Drama is good and it makes you wonder abut how will it go on about children's lives. Acting is also good in the movie that you really hate or like character.

Sets and costumes are really good chosen so scenes make you live the timeline as it is.

Because of these observations I got little bit confused, and gave six. If movie could got shorten I think it is a decent drama that you could watch.

Gangs of Wasseypur (2012)

Not a bad movie but I think this film shouldn't be in top 250 at all

I've spent 5 hours and it may not worth of your time. This is not a bad movie but I expect more when I see a movie in top 250 list.

Anyway this is a mafia movie in a specific area and it contains chronological background of 3 or 4 generations. Therefore movie has placed lots of different places and areas that took place. And because of that you may not get bored for length. But script has nothing original. I really don't know if characters are from real life or real events, but it doesn't matter movie should offer something more.

Again this is not a bad movie and movie makers give great effort for it but it is mostly relevant for India. Therefore it may not be worth of your time.

Interceptor (2022)

A lost potential

Plot look great and interesting. American nuclear missile protector is called interceptor. There seem to be have 2 position and one of them is captured. Now second position, in the middle of ocean, is under attack and soldiers in there unprotected. Only our female hero could defeat terrorist. This could have been great but writing is really bad. That is why I gave 4. If writing could have done better, it could be a great action movie. However, this is just a generic Netflix movie. If you love action movies, it could be watchable.

Climax (I) (2018)

Waste of time

Spoiler: a bunch of idiot dancers meet up in a party outside of city (somewhere in forest) and got drunk. Somebody drug the drink and these idiots act like more idiotic. It is long shot film like, one take to shoot really long seane like theatrical but there is nothing else. I've just wasted 1 and half hour. If you really want to watch do in 2x mode so you won't surfer too much.

Capernaum (2018)

Masterpiece

I had some prejudice about this movie that this was a similar "festival" movie without story and acting which could only focus on tragedy. However it was exact opposite.

Story is really great, acting is wonderful. Not every child could give these performance. Both baby and boy gave really good performance. Just because of that this movie should be a teaching referance.

Story is so great that; a small boy is teaching everyone how to be a MAN. I am 35 years old and movie character Zain thought me to be a man.

This is a masterpiece and everyone should watch.

My Neighbor Totoro (1988)

Perfect family movie

This is perfect movie for all family. No violence, no bad guys, story is simple to follow, really good for your children to watch. Because of this is anime all characters drawn to be liked and friendly to watch.

A documentary that hard to review

This is really hard to review this documentary. Because plot of documentary is a human shame. If this movie is just about woman who forced to prostitute; most probably not get any nominee and any award at all. But considering children (really weak point of every human) it get an award. I am not completely sure that movie makers did this to easy way to get an Oscar (or award). Because when you consider cinematography it is really basic level. Most likely shoot and edited by amateurs.

Therefore it is hard to review.

Sherlock Jr. (1924)

How did they shoot this movie?

First of all; it is simply a wonderful cinematography. I can see and understand how stunts are done today (with cautions) but how in 1924? I think they had simply risked their life for a movie. It is stunning to watch very well choreographed stunt. I am saying choreography but it is simply give your life into cinema.

Batman Ninja (2018)

I was excited about trailer. Movie started good and really interested in watching but after short period of time it really get absurd and I lost my interest. It all become too childish. Almost like written by a 9 year old.

It is basically a fun movie to watch. Cast is good, it has some good jokes and visuals are good so you are interested in watching. This movie will not get any oscar or don't over think about time travel. It is a good movie to watch after busy day or a good evening.

Harley Quinn is really interesting character that deserve her own movie which is great. But this movie is an insult to character.

There are too many characters in the movie that is really unnecessary. It could have a couple side character but there are too many and they are not introduced well enough. So you don't care enough. Also movie is PG13 but story is written definitely for 10 year old.

Even if you are DC fan and like these movies, you could skip directly.

Where the Wild Things Are (2009)

Not a child movie

Don't get me wrong about title, this is definitely not a child movie. It is a good horror movie although. I know that "Where the Wild Things Are" is a kid book that you could read to your kid easily, no problem. But when you see live action version of the book, you realize this is not appropriate for small children. I don't know exact age limit for this movie but it should be 13. Because when you realize a movie about big, powerful, scary monsters are trying to eat a boy is a horror movie.

It has good cinematic view and special effects that this is a good visualized movie but for above age 13. At the end I liked the movie but I will definitely not watch with my 6 year old son.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)

A good theme spent wrong

Don't get me wrong but this movie could be much more than it could be. It has a great X-man potential that has same conflicts about mutants and humans. In the beginning of movie it show this really good and we could feel tension. Story drive you to watch with full interest because it is not just good vs evil. Even though it has really great action scenes like blockbusters. That is why this could have been one of great X-man movies. However it ruins with same ideological things and don't respect previous X-man movies. Till final act I though this is way better than reviews and I thought to give at least 7 to this movie. But final act ruin everything. Story get so cheesy like an anime, not that I am disparaging anime but this is a movie should need logic in it. When you do thing just writer say so it will ruin all movie.

Brightburn (2019)

Great Potential but need to work on

I think this may be first supervillain-horror movie. It has a great potential that let us know if superman is evil. As you know every superhero movie has an opposite that fight each other, but in here there isn't any so it make little more interesting to watch. If you ask me; instead of horror element it could just use theme that what if superman is evil and let us know much more of it, it could be much better. Also it could be much better if we see child of mood change/swing and emotional ride of his superpower etc., it could have been better.

Peacemaker (2022– )

James Gunn quality but woke

I gave 6 because James Gunn really tell great stories. Show is entertaining enough that you could watch all season. However it has woke all over. But even there are some woke James Gunn pull it through that you could watch entire season. If you into DC you should definitely watch. Because of it is HBO you will see some tits. Story is simply; Peacemaker is in secret task force like because of spoiler issue that I can't say but it is classic that you could guess. But it is fun and enjoyable show that you could check.

The Karate Kid (1984)

A must watch movie

This is just not a teen movie that teenage boy overcome high school bully. Sure it start like it and you expect to see standard movie but story is take you in and let you feel struggle.

Regarding to production year (1984) it is aged really well almost like a wine. It is 2022 and I've watched again (to see as an adult, because I've watched years ago when I was in college) and it hasn't disappointed me that it is really a good movie. Correction it is a must watch movie.

Story is really simple; single mom with teenage boy move to new place and boy got crush on rich girl. Bully comes up and beat up our protagonist. Just when boy is getting kicked old man came and save boy and train him to overcome bully's in tournament. You may think it is really cheese by reading this far but characters, story keep you interested and wonder how boy will overcome.

Goodfellas (1990)

Simple but Powerful

GoodFellas has a simply story (What I mean that there is no twist end or complicated/intelligence story) that took time in long period. However it manages to suck you in and you really look for the ending.

It start as usual mafia movie that you see childhood of characters and continue through time. But story change and you realize that it is going another direction. Yet it keep you in the moment and you feel the drama of group of friends.

Regardless of time and nationality this is a must see movie of all time.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

My favorite movie

This is my favorite movie ever. Shortly; if you like animation/stop motion or musicals this movie could be one of your favorite one too.

Story is about a man (skeleton Jack or Pumpkin King Jack) who is in their primes but get tired of doing same thing over and over again. One day he find out there is more than he knows (Christmas). With excitement of new thing he decide he could do it better and wants to celebrate Christmas himself. From now on you should watch the movie.

Rather than the story, music is really great and if you are really in same situation in life (where you are tired of doing same thing) you could really relate with protagonist of the movie.

Don't skip this just because this is animation. It has great story, great music and good production.

Dangal (2016)

Must watch movie

Till the end, I was very pleased with story and liked where it was going. It was really good to see McQueen and his challenge through the movie.

I was very disappointed when it all turned to be woke. This movie need to be journey of McQueen not Ramirez.

McQueen should finish the race no matter how (even if he loose).

I was going to give 8 but just because of ending I gave 5.

Girdap (2008)

Must watch no matter where you live

I gave this movie 10 because of main plot it carries.

Cinematographically lightning, shoots are not completely good also some acting are too obvious that is not feel natural (especially young ones acting). However story and plot twist is really good.

Shortly story is based on thing happen around a young university student. How he change from a modern, civilized man to a hateful mindless propaganda man. In this movie religion is used to manipulate young people. But with similar manipulation method any religion or idea could be use change a young people mind. This is why this movie is really great.

In the middle somethings may seem like a complete made off just to story to go, but in the end it all reveal with a good twist.

The Mask (1994)

It is smokin!

Really fun movie to watch over and over again. Story is little bit unnatural but it is ok because it is really good to see Jim Carrey at his best. I don't know if anybody else could pull this role.

Joker (I) (2019)

Getting good credit by using well known brand

Don't get me wrong, this movie is overrated. Joaquin Phoenix is a good actor (no question about that) but he lead the movie. I mean lose character Joker and use same plot (corrupt city, mad men go crazy and kill people) you get a mediocre drama.

Also after Ledger performance of Joker, Phoenix isn't giving any thing better. Most of people hated Leto's performance and after that this look like an Oscar winning performance but it is all illusion.

Also this is not a movie, this is 2 hours long cigarette advertisement and won Oscar just because of that.

The Tomorrow War (2021)

Mediocre blockbuster

I like to watch this movie, it has potential to let you feel something but at the end it is not well written. If you like to watch action movies, it is good a blockbuster. I gave 7 because I like blockbusters.

Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)

Good to watch in 4K

Movie is good for watching in 4K or Blu-ray. It is really good to watch epic battle of Kong and Godzilla, but it will not fulfill to be a complete movie. Story is happening because 2 monster need to be fight each other. For me it is fun for one to see in 4K. You may not want to watch again.
