What the Health (2017)
Oh! so this is how propaganda movie looks like
I was asked my friend to watch this "documentary" together. She hasn't watched it either and was expecting to get some knowledge on how to maintain health.
A little bit about myself, I have high cholesterol, another heart condition, I am overweight. And I am a VEGETARIAN. My friend(Non-vegetarian) asked me to watch this to help me with my conditions and lifestyle.
I was laughing throughout the documentary because of the irony.
Now why am I telling you my personal details? Well, the movie is consistently misleading. My mother has arthritis and she only eats plant based diet. I don't think my 1/2 glass milk a day is causing all my problems. Downplaying impact of sugar is very dangerous to society. They constantly overlooked the facts that doesn't support their claims.
The director could have easily presented facts and benefits of plant based diet. But they don't want people to follow plant based diet and have dairy/meat sometimes, they want people to go Vegan completely. It is less about health and more about their propaganda.
Adipurush (2023)
What was Om Raut thinking?
It feels like director wanted to make a Marvel movie but failed miserably. Watched for 10 mins and I realised it's going to be tough to watch. Why didn't other people on production tell the director how bad it is? I mean you already have a popular beloved story, you just need to show some creativity in direction and your direction is so bad even religious epic couldn't save it. Om, please do us all favour and don't make anything else, just retire.
Even if it cost you nothing, don't watch it. Your time is not worth spending on this. I still can't believe it, how could someone butcher such a good story. A story whose lead character has around a billion fans/devotees.
A Man Called Otto (2022)
Movie didn't do justice to book
Although Tom Hanks performance was brilliant as always, movie couldn't deliver several aspects well. No background was provided which is very important to connect with Otto. American adaptation of the story wasn't good either, it felt forced. Otto was a lot less strict than Ova. Though out the book, it becomes clear why Ova was doing what he was doing, it becomes hard to do the same in movie like turning on radio and cat scene. Also doctor wouldn't define HCM as heart being big, it is condition of thickened heart muscle. I wish they had shown Otto's background story and his relationship with his father.
Recommendation: Read the book.
Catch-22 (1970)
Didn't do justice to story in the Book
The movie shows how hard it is to convey the feeling, humour and absurdity of book. The movie is more inclined towards the horrors of the war where the book is more of a satirical take on bureaucracy.
Catch-22 (2019)
Not as good as the Book but still decent
It is better adaptation if you compare with 1970 film with same name but it didn't do justice to the book. A bit disappointing ending and some major part of the stories were missing. I wish they would have stuck with the plot in the book. I think it's hard to capture the satire in the book in motion pictures. Overall if you haven't read the book, you'd not know what you are missing so I guess, that's good.
WALL·E (2008)
If you have a soft spot, you'll love it
I generally don't like animated movies. I watched this one as I am targeting Top 250. This is a masterpiece. It is so simple and cute but still made me feel so happy. Innocence of ET and subtle things like not able to decide between fork and spoon won my heart. I wouldn't say too much as it's hard to put in words but this movie changed the way I used to look at animated movies.
