Just Plain Awful
18 June 2023
As someone who watched the original Star Trek in the 60s, I always wanted to know more about Christopher Pike but I was very disappointed with Season 1 of this show. After waiting a whole year for Season 2, I figured they would start with a really good episode. Boy, was I wrong. This was a boring, poor attempt.. This episode would have been better used midway through the season, not as the premiere. Also, the sets were very dark.

The acting was poor. The premise of Spock in command going off half cocked let along with tears in his eyes as he takes the Enterprise out of dry dock against command orders is as far from logical as he could have gotten.

None of the cast gave convincing performances, and Carol Kane's overacted her character Pelia.

I will give the show another chance before I give up to see if Anson Mount and Rebecca Romiiin add anything with their story lines before I give up.

What happened to this show
11 November 2022
The first season of American sitcom Ghosts was very funny, the characters were funny and had great chemistry. Our family looked forward to every episode and we loved it.

Season 2 is a totally different show. I have a feeling they must have changed changed writers, and the direction they want to take the series. Whatever the reason, this show is definitely NOT funny anymore. The first episode of the season was okay, but after that not one of these shows caused me to smile once, let alone laugh.

They have honestly ruined this series, and I' m very disappointed. I just finished episode 2.7, and it was not just an attempt at biting humor, it was downright cruel and unkind to the characters the focused on; Flower and Pete,

I am about to give up on this program. It has become a waste of time.

A Terrible Cheat To The Fans
25 October 2022
I invested 12 years in watching Supernatural. When I read that season 15 was the last season I wasn't surprised, and I thought that it was great that they were going out on top.

The last episode was a pathetic waste of time. I felt so darned cheated that after 15 years the producers of this beloved series had the audacity to wait till the last 10 minutes of the finale to "wrap things up" in such a cheap, pathetic way.

Supernatural fans are very loyal, including myself. We've all watched these shows over and over, and we deserved to see the Brothers Winchester drive off into the sunset with dignity for both of them. We didn't get that ending. I was united with a legion of fans who were pissed off about it. I am still royally pissed off now, two years later.

Fun new Star Trek
4 June 2022
I watched the original series in the 1960s and I became a lifelong Trekker. Trekkies were much different. I really enjoyed this fun, lighthearted episode . I especially enjoyed the nod to the original series with the music in Spock's dream, and the series title, This the best Star Trek I've seen since Star Trek TNG. I admit I have to suspend my disbelief from the show I watched in high school, but this show is wonderful, and I can't wait to watch it the next episode.

Mario was Great, The movie was not
30 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Mario Lanza was a wonderful and he sang superbly in this film whether he hadn't been a movie in a few years or not. It was the movie that was forgettable.

The first half of this film was just plain awful.l. I wondered if most of the scenes depicting Joan Fontaine and Mario's relationship was left on the cutting room floor. We don't see the reason his patron dumps him to take off with a new man toy. All we see is her box seat at the opera is empty and he falls apart and runs off the stage. I was left feeling very bewildered. The scenes in this two hour movie are very disjointed

I enjoyed all Mario's arias, but the performances lacked passion and I was very disappointed.

Finally The Real Star Trek Is Back
7 May 2022
As an original Trekker of the 1960s, I always wanted to know more about Captain Christopher Pike. I've been hoping for years that someone would make a prequel of TOS that would tell his story. SNW is just great. The pilot show was wonderful! Anson Mount is the perfect choice to portray the haunted Pike and I was excited when Paramount announced plans to produce this show after seeing him in the OK Discovery. Ethan Peck is well chosen to play young Spock, and the bridge crew members are well chosen, I can hardly wait to see where the adventures will take the Enterprise. As for the naysayers,I hope they will give the show a second chance. Kurtzman and his staff have got Trek right this time.

Original Prime Time Players Were The Best
6 May 2022
I watched the very first episode of SNL when it aired in 1975. I laughed till my sides ached and never missed a show. We had no VCRs then so we watched it live, and I never missed a show. Every single one of the original cast were funny in their own way. Eventually they all went on to other projects.

John Belushi was a comedic genius and he was in some of the funniest skits of all time with Danny Aykroyd. Gilda Radner was also hysterically funny.

The funniest, most memorable skits of all time were in the first 20 years.

Many of cast n the 80s were very funny and so were the cast in the 90s.. After that I stopped watching and I stopped watching about 20 years ago since it wasn't funny to me anymore.

Anyone still watching for only the last 10 years may not be old enough to remember the original cast Occasionally i turn it on for a few minutes and I don't even crack a smile.

They had some great guest hosts like Steve Martin, Buck Henry, Chris Walken, Alec Baldwin, Tom Hanks, and Eddie Murphy to name a few. They all added to the show's quality.

The show became political, and sometimes offensive at times eventually. Poking at politicians is fine, but IMO they sometimes went too far.

Now, they ought to pack it in because it stinks.

The Great Mario Laza playing Caruso
25 December 2021
Mario Lanza is said to have outsung Enrico Caruso, who billed as the greatest ltenor of all time. He was, until Lanza came along. He sang with more passion than Caruso and instead of an opera career got caught up by the glamour of Hollywood, which destoryed his life. This film is dedicated to the great Mario Lanza. It may not have been a shining success, but it was h shining moment.

Where's The Dancing in this movie
17 October 2021
I am sorry, but I did not enjoy this movie, but I found it very boring. There was way too much dialogue and was very slow moving. Except for two famous songs I won't give spoilers for there was very little dancing. I love Cyd Charisse and Fred Astaire was immortalized on film as one of the best dancers in film history, BUT of the songs were mediocre and forgettable. .\\\The best thing about it was that it was filmed in color and it was wonderful to finally see Fred dance in color.

I read that this movie bombed at the box office. And I can see why. Honestly as much as I adore Cyd's dancing, she and Fred didn't have the onscreen chemistry that all his other dance partners had I embarassed to admit I am writing this review while watching the film and that i a first. I have always been to entertained to o this while he was onscreen .

Sorry chief but you can't win them all..

This Is Such A Fun Movie
29 August 2021
I really love this fun animated movie. I don't know why. I have watched it so many times I never get tired of it. It makes me feel good. I love the different expressions and the fast moving pace. I don't know why so many people dislike it. M daughter said it's because it's nothing but Sony advertising for its own apps , I think its charming.

Laugh Out Loud Funny
27 August 2021
Both I and my whole family love this movie and laugh like hyenas every time we watch together. We've been watching it for 20 years an the laughs never get old for any of us. I recently misplaced the DVD and after searching everywhere I bought it again with no regret.

The acting was wonderful by Tom Hangs, Shelley Long and Alexander Godonov (whom I had never seen onscreen before, who knew he could act as well as dance?). The house that big on Long Island going cheap so on Long Island was your classic if it sounds too good to be true it must be was great and was what one would expect: one thing after another falling apart from the roof to the plumbing is so funny I never cease to enjoy myself laughing..

I've never seen the remakes, but I don't think I'm missing anything. As far as I'm concerned this is a very entertaining film.

Black Panther (2018)
10/10
One Of Marvel's Best
16 August 2021
I just scrolled though a slew of 1 and 2 star reviews on this site and I am wondering if the people who left those negative reviews were watching the same movie I have watched many times and thoroughly enjoyed again tonight. Black Panther is one of the best films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. What were they seeing that I did not? I see excellent plot-line, action and special effects, and a message of hope for Wakandans working towards world peace and mutual cooperation with many nations towards world peace. It seemed they were ready to join the 21st century by sharing their technology to make the word a better place.

This is the least boring I have seen in years, Chakwick Boseman who was fighting cancer during the filming put in an excellent performance as T'Challla, and I will miss him in the next Black Panther film. Lupita Nyongo was excellent as Nakia, and I loved Letitia Wright as little sister Shuri, with all those fascinating gadgets and gizmos.

I admit there were some slow scenes in Korea with Klaue, the villain and setting up with Killmonger for later scenes. That's the only negative thing I can think of without giving spoilers.

I love this movie. Don't pay any attention to the naysayers.

Teriffic Historical Fiction & Awesome acting
10 August 2021
I love his movie and have loved it since I first saw this magnificent film when it was released to theaters in 1969. The costumes and the superb pageantry has always struck me for the accuracy of what the Tudor court must have been like during Henry VIII's reign.

Richard Burton's acting was great, but it was the young Genevieve Bujold's performance that truly makes the film. She was superb as the passionate portrayal of what Anne must have been like. I always believed it was badly short changed at the Oscars for only winning one for costume designs. Admittedly they were so true to life for the period,It was nominated for 10 Academy Awards for all the principal actors and best picture and director.

This movie gave me a lifelong fascination in me for Anne Bolelyn and Henry Tudor's medieval England. I honestly think Burton's portrayal of what the the real Henry's reign of medieval England is still with me today. All these years I imagined that the real Henry may have been so similar to the person he have been like during his lifetime.

The acting of al the key historically famous members of the Tudor court, , the clergy and former friends and all the other principal character during that part of Henry's life. All the men he had executed, So started beginning of his his tyrannical reign of executions, His moral decline into madness.and obsessions. And the reign of terror he unleashed all over England with the thousands of execution of innocent clergymen as well as so many people who were loyal to him until he became irrational and tried to force them to sign the royal edict to support him breaking with Catholic church.

Though I have seen many movies that depicted his tyrannical personality and obsession of a male heir, but this in my opinion was the best, ever I wish I could give it more than ten stars.. It is just that good..

Entertaining show, Houses Large and Sterile Looking
23 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I really enjoyed this show. I don't know why so many reviewers disliked the hosts so much, especially Caroline Quentin I thought she and Piers Taylor had very good chemistry. I found her upbeat and entertaining. I don't know why they chose so many enormous rectangular concrete boxes buildings built of concrete dripping with enormous windows with no draperies dripping with white walls and no color and warmt. They didn't look lived in. Many of the obviously wealthy owners displayed very little taste in furniture and lack of art or decoration.and no character. Most of them didn't strike me as very comfortable. But I enjoyed their travels all over the world. I wish they had filmed another season. I especially liked the house that was built into copses of trees respecting nature.and the one that was built into the side of a cliff and the one in Norway on its own island. I can't figure out though where so many of these modern architects got their ideas for houses that didn't look like homes..

Now I KNOW why I never Wanted To Se This Movie
14 May 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Back in the 70s I refused to see this hyped up movie that everyone was so excited about. It disgusted me then and after finally wasting 21/2 hours of my life I can't get back I am seriously disgusted with this Hollywood-esque distrotion of what an alien encounter would be like. If there was one, it wouldn't be like Spielsberg-s idea would be. The only good thing about it was John Williams's lovely musical score. Especially the flashing light tune at the end. Otherwise I would have given it 1 star review. BTW how any kinds of alien encounters are there and what makes this story the Third Kind?

The acting was adequate, the cinematography was beautiflul, but it painted a foolish view of how the US military would have treated such an encounter and how ordinary people would have been rounded up like cattle and sprayed with sleeping gas to convince them they were dreaming when the spacemen returned the alien abductees.

I know people have loved this film and I don't mean to denigrate their wonderment of the movie, but to each their own entertainment.

Spielberg dircted many memorable films in this time that I enjoyed, but this isn't one of them.

A Childhood Favorite I still Love
14 April 2020
I last saw this movie when I was 59 years when it was released. and I was 12 years old. They brought it back more than once but it's been a long time since I got to see it again as an adult and I'm not embarressed to admit how much I enoyed it. Like all Disney movies it has aged well. As a partially animated film made before the age of computers it is a marvel. Children of all ages would love this film today. of all ages would enjoy this movie . The songs are delightful the the blossoming love story with Ladyfish and his friendship with Crusty are lovely.

It was great to see the late Don Knots again in his prime and performance as Limpet the fish pulled at my heartstrings. He was always so funny as Barney Fife on Andy Griffith and Ralph Furley on Three's Company.

I highly recommend this film.
