i feel that this film had a good starting point, a reasonable story line, but the fact that the story line needs much more development, the acting wasn't organic or fluid and felt very staged and the film was just lacking overall sadly

With an expectation that I now realise was unrealistic - I assumed I was sitting down to a good film - coupled with a poor, almost non-existent story line and absolutely no character development whatsoever leave me disappointed in 2011's Harvest.

Firstly let me preface by saying that I hope that some part of this film was just lost in translation and that when watched in its native language it springs to life and is amazing.
Throughout the whole film I felt I was missing something, some vital element that I had skipped over that would make all of the randomness that I was watching make some sense. The key that would unlock the film and release its treasures! Sadly I did not find it.
I feel that the film was trying to come of as artsy, when back in reality it was just lacking. The storyline gave no answers for the gaping holes and instead left them for deeper analysis on your part so you could try and work out why the randomness on screen just ensued - In my analysis Kirill (Josef Mattes) has some sort of split personality disorder and we are all just meant to play along that those weren't some of the most random moments ever .
However from this madness there stems one of the best scenes I have seen in a long time from a gay film (any film for that matter), one that also would probably rank highly as one of the best I've seen ever - When our two leads are in the shower and they are shampooing one another's hair, just after that and right before they kiss there is this prolonged and beautiful moment that you just feel you want your whole life (and the whole film) to exist in, so luscious and so intense you could just move into it, it truly was perfection and deserves to be viewed (as I'm sure it will be) over and over again. It made the rest worthwhile.
