Votes: 503,156 | Gross: $337.14M

The Hunger Games series is my all-time favorite book series, and I'm thrilled with how beautiful and close to the book Catching Fire was. That being said, I'm carefully treading water with Mockingjay. It's my favorite of the trilogy, and I really hope they don't mess it up by giving it two movies, even though there's definitely room for improvement.

2. Divergent (2014)

PG-13 | 139 min | Action, Adventure, Mystery

48 Metascore

In a world divided by factions based on virtues, Tris learns she's Divergent and won't fit in. When she discovers a plot to destroy Divergents, Tris and the mysterious Four must find out what makes Divergents dangerous before it's too late.

Director: Neil Burger | Stars: Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet, Jai Courtney

Votes: 489,194 | Gross: $150.95M

We realized how excited everyone was for this movie when 2014 hit, and I really hope it does well so that we can get Insurgent and Allegiant. I love the Divergent trilogy so much and love who they cast as Tris and Tobias.

3. Vampire Academy (2014)

PG-13 | 104 min | Action, Comedy, Drama

31 Metascore

Rose Hathaway is a Dhampir, half human-half vampire, a guardian of the Moroi, peaceful, mortal vampires living discreetly within our world. Her calling is to protect the Moroi from bloodthirsty, immortal Vampires, the Strigoi.

Director: Mark Waters | Stars: Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry, Danila Kozlovskiy, Gabriel Byrne

Votes: 56,822 | Gross: $7.79M

This quirky adaptation of one of my favorite book series by Richelle Mead looks pretty good, and I'm definitely going to see it ten plus times so we can get Frostbite and Shadow Kiss, because the latter is my favorite book of the series.

4. The Fault in Our Stars (2014)

PG-13 | 126 min | Drama, Romance

69 Metascore

Hazel and Gus are teenagers who meet at a cancer support group and fall in love. They both share the same acerbic wit and a love of books, especially "An Imperial Affliction", so they embark on a journey to visit an author in Amsterdam.

Director: Josh Boone | Stars: Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort, Nat Wolff, Laura Dern

Votes: 401,260 | Gross: $124.87M

If there's any ways to make someone cry that TFiOS missed out on, please notify me, because I cried almost through the entirety of the book. It's a gratifying journey and I really hope it translates well to the big screen.

5. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)

PG-13 | 142 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

53 Metascore

When New York is put under siege by Oscorp, it is up to Spider-Man to save the city he swore to protect as well as his loved ones.

Director: Marc Webb | Stars: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti

Votes: 538,215 | Gross: $202.85M

I'm not really a Spider-Man fan, so the first movie took me by surprise by how much I enjoyed it. Now I'm ready for the second one, which promises to be a hit with new faces like Jamie Foxx.

6. The Giver (2014)

PG-13 | 97 min | Drama, Romance, Sci-Fi

47 Metascore

In a seemingly perfect community without war, pain, suffering, differences or choices, a young boy is chosen to learn from an elderly man, the true pain and pleasure of the "real" world.

Director: Phillip Noyce | Stars: Brenton Thwaites, Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Taylor Swift

Votes: 125,656 | Gross: $45.09M

I can't believe they're making this into a movie! I read this when I was in the sixth grade! I'm definitely excited for this one, even though it looks like it's going to be pretty far from the book.

7. Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

PG-13 | 136 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

70 Metascore

As Steve Rogers struggles to embrace his role in the modern world, he teams up with a fellow Avenger and S.H.I.E.L.D agent, Black Widow, to battle a new threat from history: an assassin known as the Winter Soldier.

Directors: Anthony Russo, Joe Russo | Stars: Chris Evans, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Redford

Votes: 899,479 | Gross: $259.77M

I'm really excited for this one, partially because Chris Evans is really hot. But partially because I loved the first one and I'm interested to see where they'll take the character of Captain America.

8. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2014)

PG-13 | 101 min | Action, Adventure, Comedy

31 Metascore

When a kingpin threatens New York City, a group of mutated turtle warriors must emerge from the shadows to protect their home.

Director: Jonathan Liebesman | Stars: Megan Fox, Will Arnett, William Fichtner, Noel Fisher

Votes: 220,039 | Gross: $191.20M

This is one of the few comic-book movies really I'm excited for, besides the two aforementioned. I always loved TMNT when I was a kid. My only complaint is Megan Fox.

9. Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014)

PG-13 | 165 min | Action, Adventure, Sci-Fi

32 Metascore

When humanity allies with a bounty hunter in pursuit of Optimus Prime, the Autobots turn to a mechanic and his family for help.

Director: Michael Bay | Stars: Mark Wahlberg, Nicola Peltz Beckham, Jack Reynor, Stanley Tucci

Votes: 331,711 | Gross: $245.44M

My main reason for wanting to see this is Mark Wahlburg. Huge crush. But I think it could be interesting, with the right script.

10. The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies (2014)

PG-13 | 144 min | Adventure, Fantasy

59 Metascore

Bilbo and company are forced to engage in a war against an array of combatants and keep the Lonely Mountain from falling into the hands of a rising darkness.

Director: Peter Jackson | Stars: Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage, Cate Blanchett

Votes: 572,037 | Gross: $255.12M

I thought the first Hobbit movie was just okay. However, I loved the second one, so I'm pretty interested in seeing how the series ends. I haven't read the book, even though I did read LoTR.
