In the glamourous world of Hollywood, where larger-than-life figures often dominate the spotlight, stars like Robin Williams shine not only for their talents but also for their compassion and warmth off-screen. The late actor, who worked with numerous talents throughout his career, has been praised by many of his co-stars, including by the young actors he shared the screen with.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s recent Jumanji films have reignited excitement for the franchise, but fans are confused about the title of the next installment. The debate centers on whether it should be called Jumanji 3 or Jumanji 5.
Robin Williams, Bradley Pierce, and Kirsten Dunst in Jumanji
The confusion stems from how the Jumanji franchise has changed over time. There’s the original movie with Robin Williams and the newer reboot series with The Great One.
Suggested“He has Jumanji 5 coming out”: One Hollywood Actor Makes Even Joe Rogan Feel Lazy and It’s Not Dwayne Johnson
So, fans are unsure if the next movie follows the original story, making it Jumanji 3, or if it’s part of the reboot series, which would make it Jumanji 5. Plus, there’s also confusion about whether Jumanji 4 would be happening or not.

Jumanji is a film that had its fair share of jumpscares but was overall a beloved film that several grown-ups today remember watching fondly. However, a theory has been making the rounds on Reddit, which paints the entire film in a much darker and sinister light.
Robin Williams in Jumanji (1995)
According to the theory, Jumanji as a game has a lot more dire consequences than we realize. This stems from the fact that when the game ends in the present, Alan and Sarah find themselves back in the past, back to when they started the game. Not only that, but they also remember everything that transpired in the timeline, even though it has never occurred.

On Dec. 15, 1995, TriStar unveiled the Robin Williams starrer Jumanji in theaters, where it would go on to gross $262 million globally and eventually kickstart a franchise. The Hollywood Reporter’s original review is below:
Call it “Game Story.”
Based on a 1981 book by children’s author and illustrator Chris Van Allsburg, Jumanji tells the story of a mysterious board game with a treacherous mind of its own; where every roll of the dice carries considerable consequences.
The filmed result is a raucous, noisy affair jam-packed with special effects, amusing character turns and some truly surreal sight gags.
And while all the parts never seem to form a cohesive whole and the rampaging critters may be a little intense for younger viewers, Jumanji holds enough distractions along the way to keep audiences occupied.
Boxoffice results should be respectable but TriStar probably shouldn’t expect a stampede.
Young Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce play Judy and Peter,...

“You think that mosquitos, monkeys, and lions are bad? That is just the beginning. I’ve seen things you’ve only seen in your nightmares. Things you can’t even imagine. Things you can’t even see. There are things that hunt you in the night. Then something screams. Then you hear them eating, and you hope to God that you’re not dessert. Afraid? You don’t even know what afraid is. You would not last five minutes without me.”
This is a quote from the character of Alan Parrish as delivered by the late, legendary Robin Williams in the 1995 hit Jumanji. It goes pretty hard, doesn’t it?
It’s intense. It’s foreboding, and it’s played straight. That is the key to the gateway horror aspect of the film – the danger is always played straight.

It’s been almost nine years since the death of actor and comedian Robin Williams shook the entertainment world to its core.
The star of films including Mrs Doubtfire, Good Will Hunting and Night at the Museum was 63 when he died on 11 August 2014.
Despite the time that has passed, anecdotes of the countless good deeds he did for others continue to be shared, most recently when Nathan Lane revealed how Williams protected him during an interview with Oprah Winfrey.
One of Williams’ most popular films was Jumanji, the 1995 blockbuster co-starring Bonnie Hunt and Jonathan Hyde.
It also featured Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce, who were child stars at the time. In 2020, celebrating the film’s 25th anniversary, Pierce revealed how Williams once stepped in to defend him from over-demanding producers.
Jumanji followed two children whose worlds collides with Williams’s Alan Parrish, who got sucked into the magical board game as a young boy.

It has been nearly a decade since the death of iconic comedian Robin Williams. But he is still lovingly remembered by fans all over the world for his kindness and generosity. Williams was much more than just a comic genius and a gifted actor. He was also a genuinely thoughtful human being as well.
Many of Williams’ former co-stars have opened up about their experiences working with the late star. In 2020, one former child star who worked with him in the 1995 cult classic Jumanji revealed that Williams was a major advocate for the child performers on the set, including young Kirsten Dunst.

Director Joe Johnston's "Jumanji" came along at just the right time for Robin Williams. Having settled into his groove as an actor, Williams was not quite at the point where he could fully shed his hurricane of a comedic persona on-screen. That would happen a little later in his career when he starred in films like "One Hour Photo" and "Insomnia."
If anything, though, this worked in Williams' favor on "Jumanji." His character in the film, Alan Parrish, is just a boy when he's trapped in the titular magic board game in 1969, only to emerge a fully grown adult — with an untamed beard and a mane of hair to rival that of the lion he squares off with — when he escapes the game 26 years later. Having survived in the jungles of Jumanji alone all this time, Alan the adult is emotionally stunted. As such, in the scenes where Williams indulges his zanier side,...

The Supreme Court’s potential decision to overturn Roe v. Wade would result the immediate gutting of reproductive rights across conservative America, but some states are already taking action. The Louisiana state House Appropriations Committee on Wednesday advanced a bill that would make abortion a homicide, opening the door for mothers who terminate a pregnancy in the state to be charged with murder.
“We can’t wait on the Supreme Court,” said Republican Rep. Danny McCormick, who co-authored the bill with a Baptist reverend.

1995’s Jumanji is widely regarded as a classic family adventure movie. On its original release, it was one of the highest-grossing films of the year and went on to spawn a cartoon show, a semi-sequel in Zathura: A Space Adventure and the recent Welcome to the Jungle and The Next Level. And ever since the tragic death of star Robin Williams in 2014, its stature has risen even more, with those that grew up with the pic introducing both it and the actor to their own children.
Bradley Pierce, who played the young Peter Shepherd in the film, recently spoke to People Magazine about his time working on the project and revealed a very touching moment where Williams looked out for the child stars in the cast. It came during the climactic monsoon sequence, which necessitated working in a gigantic water tank.

Beauty and the Beast is one of Disney's most timeless classics, but there's a lot about the animated film that you might not have realized. For instance, do you know exactly what kind of animal the Beast was based on? Or his real name? The reboot is absolutely gorgeous and has a few interesting updates, but for now, let's revisit all of the interesting tidbits that make the 1991 film so great.
Jackie Chan dubbed the voice of the Beast for Chinese-speaking countries. He provided vocals for both the Beast's speaking and singing parts! Chip originally had only one line. The producers liked 9-year-old actor Bradley Pierce's voice so much that they asked to expand the role. He also wasn't supposed to be a teacup. Early drawings of the character saw him as a music box who could only communicate by his chiming musical notes.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle starring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan is set to be released this December. The film is going to be a sequel to the original Jumanji film that starred the late Robin Williams, Kristen Dunst, and Bradley Pierce in 1995. It's about two kids who find a magical board game and as they play it they release a man who had been trapped there for decades, but in doing so also release other dangers that can only be returned by finishing the game. The film is an adaptation of the self-titled children's book published in 1981 by Chris Van Allsburg. How will this sequel connect with the original film which is 22 years old? As a courtesy I am going to put a Spoiler Alert as the topic at hand deals with some of the scenes in the film.
Thanks to an interview with The Hollywood Reporter with Jack Black on the sidelines of CineEurope in Barcelona we have some idea of what to expect. This is what he had to say about the differences between the two films:
“[In the original] you never got to see the inside world, but this one takes place primarily inside the jungle of Jumanji. That’s the coolest part of the film -- we’re able to transport the audience to that secret and wondrous land, with the danger and the beauty."
The film actually takes place inside game where Alan Parrish, Robin William's character, was trapped in for so many years. Speaking of Robin Williams, Black also commented on how his character from the 1995 film plays a role in the film:
“We’re exploring this jungle and trying to conquer the game; it’s life or death,” he said. “But while we’re there, we find clues left behind by [Williams’ character Alan Parrish]. He built up a full-blown jungle house, similar to a Swiss Family Robinson situation. It’s like he’s there helping us without actually being there.”
It will be great to see what Alan Parrish went through in that mysterious jungle land that is found inside the game. Although I am very happy to see this film get a sequel, I fear that the gap between films is too far and a lot of the younger generation won't be able to connect the two. Also, my biggest issue is the casting of both Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart. I think that they are in too many films, and we are getting to a point where although they have had some good films, we need to see some different faces on the big screen. Because of the nostalgia, and also curiosity about the jungle world, I will definitely be watching this. Does Jumanji interest you? Does the casting make you want to watch the film more or less? Chime in below!

It's being remade with Dwayne Johnson - but what's so special about the original Jumanji? We take a look back...
The 1990s saw a number of leaps forward in computer generated effects, from Terminator 2: Judgment Day at the beginning of the decade to The Matrix near the end. Hollywood blockbusters reflected the boom in visual effects accordingly and some films hold up better than others – 1995's Jumanji fits right in the middle.
In line with the special effects wizardry that had brought dinosaurs to the big screen in Jurassic Park a couple of years prior, Joe Johnston's wacky fantasy adventure unleashed a jungle on small town America with funny and scary results. With a reboot/belated sequel on the horizon, it's interesting to look back at how this one is more fondly remembered, whether as a visual effects extravaganza or as an action packed family movie.

In accordance with previous reports, it’s been confirmed that Dwayne Johnson has been tapped to headline Sony’s Jumanji remake. However, there’s no word of his Central Intelligence co-star Kevin Hart closing a deal at this time.
Word of Johnson’s addition to the embryonic overhaul comes via the actor’s ever-active Instagram – which also brought word of Baywatch enlisting Pamela Anderson earlier today – revealing that Johnson’s Seven Bucks production banner will help shepherd Jumanji into development, with plans in place to start shooting in fall of this year.
Expect casting to hit up over the next few months, then, with producer Matt Tolmach and director Jake Kasdan also on board to steer the project from behind the scenes. Perhaps in an effort to allay fears that a Jumanji reboot is arguably unnecessary, Johnson noted that the team “promises to deliver something cool and special.. and not...

Bradley Pierce, the little kid from "Jumanji," doesn't want Sony to roll the dice on the reboot ... and for good reason. Pierce hasn't been asked to reprise his role as Peter Shepherd from the original '95 film, which also starred Robin Williams. The snub's not what's bothering Pierce about the remake ... it's the fact that Williams obviously isn't in the picture ... he carried the film to blockbuster status. Pierce says he believes Williams would have...

This last July Columbia Pictures president Douglas Belgrad announced that the studio is considering a Jumanji reboot. Well, this was a small mention, but true. Now we’ve learned that Zach Helm will get the first crack at the script.
Chris Van Allsburg’s 1981 children’s book ‘Jumanji’ was first adapted into the big screen in 1995, directed by Joe Johnston. The family adventure starred Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, Kirsten Dunst, Bradley Pierce, Jonathan Hyde, Bebe Neuwirth, David Alan Grier and Patricia Clarkson. In it, a little boy finds a board game called Jumanji, which causes jungle plants and creatures to invade a quiet American suburb. Dunst and Pierce starred as the two kids who discovered the game, and Williams as the man who’s trapped in it.
In 2005, Jon Favreau directed some kind of space age semi-sequel called Zathura, which starred Kristen Stewart and Josh Hutcherson.

This last July, Sony announced that it had been rummaging through its toy chest of properties and had emerged triumphant with Jumanji. President Doug Belgrad announced that the studio would be making a new version of the 1996 film based on Chris Van Allsburg’s 1981 book. Now we know who will get the first crack at the script: Zach Helm. The writer is probably best known for crafting Stranger Than Fiction and, to a lesser extent, Mr Magorium’s Wonder Emporium. It’ll be his job to bring some modern-day flavour to the story of two kids (played in the original by Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce) who discover the titular game and play it, letting loose a horde of CG animals in the process. Oh, and a man who had become trapped in the game’s world as a child but was now hairy Robin Williams.Sony isn’t saying...

I’m joking, keep doing what you’re doing, this is awful news. Sony Pictures is looking to remake Jumanji, that movie you liked as a kid but could only watch now if you had a laptop with you on the couch. The movie did well with a domestic total of $100M and international total of $162M, there have been many rumors about a sequel in the past but nothing came to be.
The Amazing Spider-Man producer, Matt Tolmach is said to be attached to movie the reboot along with original producers, William Teitler and Ted Field. I guess they think it’s been too long to do a sequel and get original fans back in the seats, but seriously, it would be so much better than a reboot. Kirsten Dunst and Robin Williams reunite, oh and the little boy, Bradley Pierce. IMDb tells me he’s doing a lot of voice work,...

Today, Variety reports that Matt Tolmach, whose credits include the recent The Amazing Spider-Man , has come aboard to produce alongside William Teitler with Tedd Field and Mike Weber executive producing. The original Jumanji starred Robin Williams, Bonnie Hunt, Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce and was based on the 1981 children's book by Chris Van Allsburg. In it, a magical board game causes jungle plants and creatures to invade a quiet American suburb. The Amazing Spider-Man , released on July 3rd, has currently grossed $657 million worldwide.

The great thing about Sony wanting to reboot Jumanji is that they can get the same actors involved. Robin Williams and Bonnie Hunt still have the chops, and Kirsten Dunst is definitely still available, pigtails optional. Bradley Pierce is the wildcard, as he’s only done some scattered voice work in the past few years, but they could even get Joe Johnston to direct again. Isn’t that funny? They’re trying to reboot a movie where all the players, for the most part, are still in the acting and directing spotlight. Of course, a version from Michael Haneke would be cooler. Regardless, Sony is now firmly in the rebooting business. Men In Black is seeking even more installments, there’s Total Recall, Spider-Man is going to be exhausted by the time they get all their worth out of him, and now they’re even digging into the minor 90s hits to figure out what to do...

If there’s one thing that studios like more than anything at the moment, it’s to go digging into their back catalogues and dust off old properties to reboot. Take Sony, for example. Buried in a long interview with Columbia Pictures president Doug Belgrad is a small mention about wanting to make a new version of Jumanji. You might recall the 1996 original, featuring Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce as two kids who decide to play an old board game they find. Unbeknownst to them, it’s a magical item that can trap the unwary, and the two sprogs release Alan Parrish (Robin Williams), who had been sealed within the game’s jungle realm for years. But though he’s glad to be out, the kids’ actions also release a lot of other chaos into the world. With Joe Johnston calling the shots, a lot was made of the film’s CG critters,...

Director Joe Johnston is becoming quite the fan favourite these days, especially amongst the elusive 18 – 25 year old demographic. He’s recently helmed such budgetary monsters as Hidalgo, The Wolfman and the insanely priced Captain America: The First Avenger. But before them existed Jumanji, the intimate yet surprisingly sprawling family adventure that explores the duplicitous nature of escapism.
Adapted from the book of the same title, Jumanji begins in 1969, following a young Alan Parrish (played as an adult by Robin Williams). Dominated from all angles, by the local bullies and even his father, it’s his need to escape that drives him to follow the ominous sound of disembodied drums into a local excavation site. There he finds the sturdy wooden board game: Jumanji. He and his young love interest Sarah (played later by Bonnie Hunt) start the game together, with disastrous consequences that leave Alan trapped...

Walt Disney Pictures has announced that Beauty and the Beast will be getting a 3D re-release. The studio is also prepping 3D re-releases of Toy Story and Toy Story 2, which will arrive in 2009 and 2010. Disney is re-rendering the animated classic using its Disney Digital 3-D technology, and will release the film in 2010. A specific release date has not been set. Released in 1991, Beauty and the Beast featured the voices of Paige O'Hara, Robby Benson, Richard White, Jerry Orbach, David Ogden Stiers, Bradley Pierce and Angela Lansbury. It centered on Belle, whose father Maurice is imprisoned by the Beast (really an enchanted Prince). She offers herself in exchange for her father and finds the prince inside the Beast. It won Oscars for Best Original Score and Best Original Song. It was also nominated for Best Picture – still the only animated film ever to be nominated in that category.

An enchanting feat of technology and storytelling, "The Borrowers" features a family of 4-inch-tall people and their adventures in the land of giant humans. Based on the novels by Mary Norton, the PolyGram release of a Working Title production is a solid, family-oriented film, and it should fare moderately well at the boxoffice.
The special effects are the star in "The Borrowers", although the witty and inventive screenplay by Gavin Scott and John Kamps comes in a close second, and leads John Goodman and Jim Broadbent are great as the comedy-adventure's bellowing Goliath and peewee David.
Director Peter Hewitt ("Tom and Huck") and crew create a plausible but occasionally exaggerated world that Working Title explored in two series for the BBC. Wonderfully unconventional and creative with everyday objects, the Borrowers are few but proud, not puny criminals but quiet, peace-loving parasites.
The plot is reminiscent of "Mouse Hunt", with Pod Clock (Broadbent) forced to move his wee family when a behemoth banker, Ocious P. Potter (Goodman), evicts the regular-sized family of young Pete (Bradley Pierce). Mom Clock (Celia Imire) and Pod are separated from their two kids, Arrietty (Flora Newbigin) and Peagreen (Tom Felton), when they all hitch a ride with the movers thanks to Pete, who tries to keep their existence a secret.
With many extraordinary sequences -- including several chases, rides on a hot rod in a drainpipe driven by teenage ally Spiller (Raymond Pickard) and the perilous thrills of several close calls in a milk-bottling plant -- "The Borrowers" is nearly always convincing with its 14-to-1 ratio of a normal person to a borrower.
The performances are light and broad, and there are sufficient characterizations to engage older viewers. Like "Mouse Hunt", "Borrowers" has successfully mixed up decades in terms of production design, costumes and props, while overall the film is a visual treat with many memorable surprises.
