Stars: Olivia Nikkanen, Naomi Grace, Jayce Bartok, Devin Druid, Emilia McCarthy, Amy Hargreaves, Catherine Curtin | Written by Erik Bloomquist, Carson Bloomquist | Directed by Erik Bloomquist
The Bloomquist brothers, director Erik and co-writer Carson are back with their second film this year, following up their summer camp horror She Came from the Woods with Founders Day. Billed as a political slasher has an interesting history to it. The original concept dates back to 2011, and a script that was considered for inclusion in Project Greenlight. They even made a conceptual trailer for it before the project collapsed. And what better time to revive it than now in a time of political division and violence?
In the town of Fairwood, two things are fast approaching, its 300th anniversary and the election of its next mayor. The race is a contentious one, the first image we see is of a campaign sign being destroyed.

Nicole Kidman has been an international treasure going on four decades. Whether you’re tracking her many wigs (“The Undoing” is our favorite), admiring her textured and committed performances, or just standing up and saluting before every AMC Theatres showing, you’re probably honoring her in some way.
While five best actress Oscar nominations and one win (for “The Hours”) have been adequate markers of her success and endurance, conversations have been brewing for years about a lack of recognition for her remarkable artistic consistency.
“How many times does Nicole Kidman have to prove herself?” asked author Anne Helen Peterson in a 2017 essay for BuzzFeed, one that examined how esteem is or isn’t doled out to women in Hollywood, using Kidman as a template.
“While male actors coast on the brilliance of a single performance for years, female stars have to reapply for greatness on a yearly basis, fighting...

Robert F. Kennedy claimed President Joe Biden is a more significant threat to democracy than his opponent, Donald Trump.
“A moment ago, you said you – you essentially see Trump and Biden as the same,” CNN news anchor Erin Burnet told Kennedy during an interview.
“But do you really believe that when people talk about the threat to democracy that Trump poses—do you really think that it is an equal evil to Biden?” Burnett then asked him.
“Listen, I make the argument that President Biden is a much worse threat to democracy,” he replied. “And the reason for that is President Biden is the first candidate – the first president in history that has used the federal agencies to censor political speech or censor his opponent.”
“You know, I can say that because I just want a case, a federal court of appeals now before the Supreme Court,” Rfk Jr. stated.

Whenever a television series passes that fifth season threshold, it becomes vital for producers to keep things fresh without veering away from what viewers love about this particular show. This is especially true for law enforcement procedurals. You think there are only so many ways people can be killed, and a finite number of methods to solve said murders? Think again. And if you're a writer on one of these shows, you better think extra hard.
Over the 34-and-counting years of its existence, the "Law & Order" franchise (read our season ranking here) has addressed this issue by building episodes around actual, ripped-from-the-headlines crimes. It's gotten to the point that when a murder becomes national news, you immediately wonder how "Law & Order" will adapt it.

This is really something special. A movie that resonates with me to such a degree that it is etched upon all that I love within the genre. It feels like a twisted take on a certain Marvel hero who loves to show off his patriotism—and love for his country—through blood, bullets, and even a bar brawl. All he was missing was a vibranium shield. This film involves a charismatic, stone-cold stoic, and reserved antagonist that you sometimes cheer for, even if he has a bloodlust towards innocent bystanders. I would like to defend myself by saying that it’s not just a cult-classic, but a bona fide, badass flick that displays multiple elements of thriller, comedy, action, and horror. It gels together so damn well, that you can’t believe it’s not butter. Today we’re discussing Adam Wingard’s 2014, stranger-danger film, The Guest (watch it Here...

The producers of “Dancing With the Stars” are responding to the controversial casting of Sean Spicer (Season 28) and Adrian Peterson (Season 32), among others.
“We’re a silly ballroom dance show, we’re teaching people how to cha cha. The country is divided, so half of the people may have one political view and the other half have the other. At the core of it, we always just go for nice, good people,” executive producer Deena Katz told Variety following ABC’s unscripted panel at the Television Critics Association press tour on Saturday.
Katz added that former White House press secretary Spicer became friends with many members of the cast during his time on the show. However, there was a great deal of controversy amid his casting, with former host Tom Bergeron among those expressing disappointment over how the show was being politicized.

An Air Force veteran who previously claimed she was drugged and sexually assaulted by rapper T.I. and his wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, sued the couple in Los Angeles late Tuesday.
The Jane Doe plaintiff says she was around 22 or 23 years old and stationed in Los Angeles in 2005 when she attended a party at Coolio’s house and met a man who purportedly worked for the Atlanta rapper and his wife. She alleges the man, who went by the name Caviar, helped facilitate a meeting with the couple at a club the following night.

Great onscreen chemistry is not contingent on the actors liking each other off camera. Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman famously did not get along while making "Casablanca," and the same was evidently true for Richard Gere and Debra Winger during the shoot of "An Officer and a Gentlemen." It's unfortunate, but the nice thing about movies is that you only have to pretend you're into each other for a few months. Once the film wraps (and after any needed reshoots), you'll only see each other again at the premiere. After that, you make it a point to never work together in the future, and life goes on.

Though Clint Eastwood has been an Oscars mainstay, with 11 nominations and four wins over the years, it generally hasn’t been for his acting abilities — nine of those nominations and all of his wins have come as either a director or a producer. Granted, he also hasn’t taken many acting jobs outside of the movies he’s made himself. Since 1990, he’s only had credited roles in two scripted films that were directed by others: 1993’s In the Line of Fire and 2012’s Clint Eastwood. By the time he filmed In the Line of Fire, Eastwood had directed 17 movies, but that film was directed by the late Wolfgang Peterson. It went on to become one of Eastwood’s biggest box office hits ever, and while he admitted it felt a little strange to not be the one behind the camera, he told us he had a lot of respect...

When Hulu announced they were going to revive "Futurama" for a third time, the good news (everyone) was immediately chased by the bad news that actor John Dimaggio -- who plays Bender and numerous other characters on the show -- may not return. The actor explained in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) back in February 2022 that the studio didn't offer him enough money, but more than that, were seemingly dismissive -- in an unspecified way -- of the entire voice cast. This led to a month-long contract standoff wherein it looked like Dimaggio may actually quit the show and move on. This would have been unthinkable to "Futurama" fans, as Bender was one of the most important characters on the show, and having another actor -- no matter how good they were -- would seem like too large a change to accept.

Sharna Burgess‘ absence from Dancing With the Stars‘ Len Goodman tribute was a grave oversight that her “family in the ballroom” should have spoken up about, her fianceé and former DWTS partner Brian Austin Green said Wednesday on social media.
“I can’t begin to tell you how disappointed I was for @SharnaBurgess to not be invited for the tribute last night,” Green posted on Instagram. “It’s disappointing as well that note of her ‘family in the ballroom’ stuck up for her or spoke out. She’s an incredible soul and has always been a friend to everyone. She deserved better.

NFL football star Adrian Peterson was a controversial contestant on “Dancing with the Stars” to say the least due to allegations of child abuse and domestic violence. Thus, many fans online celebrated his elimination on “Disney100 Night.” But we got different results when we polled fans of “DWTS” after last week’s results. When we asked who should have been eliminated from the competition, 21.92% voted for Peterson. That means more than 78% of respondents would have eliminated someone else. Scroll down for our surprising poll results.
The vast majority of fans were split between five contestants. Getting the most votes (29.08%) was “Real Housewives” star and real estate agent Mauricio Umansky. He landed in the bottom two on “Premiere Night,” so it didn’t seem like he would last long in the competition, but he has been safe from elimination ever since. On “Disney100 Night” he performed a paso doble, a difficult...

Tonight is the “Dancing with the Stars” theme night most inclined to elicit tears from the contestants and audience alike. “Most Memorable Year” will feature dances inspired by a life-changing year in each celebrity’s life. But whose journey will come to an end at the end of the evening? “DWTS” fans have been placing their bets here in our predictions center for the past week. You can still make or update your own forecasts before tonight’s show.
It looks like it might be bad news for “Brady Bunch” star Barry Williams. As of this writing he gets leading odds of 19/10 of being eliminated from the competition. He was one of the three celebrities in jeopardy last week when the final results were announced along with Lele Pons and Adrian Peterson. That doesn’t necessarily mean Williams was actually in the bottom three, though. Peterson was eliminated, so all...

It’s been an interesting couple of weeks for real estate agent and “Real Housewives” personality Mauricio Umansky on “Dancing with the Stars.” But he has survived into week three, and tonight he and the other 11 remaining celebrities will dance to the music of Motown. Will he continue to have the support of viewers at home, or will they leave him hanging?
SEEGet ready for a ton of foxtrots on Motown Night on ‘Dancing with the Stars’
Umansky scored 15 out of 30 on “Premiere Night,” not the worst score of the evening, but he still landed in the bottom two, indicating that he came up short in viewer votes. Comedian and actor Matt Walsh was eliminated instead, though. Then on “Latin Night” Umansky struggled mightily through his choreography and scored 12 out of 30. That did leave him at the bottom of the judges’ leaderboard, but this time viewer votes kept him out of the bottom two.

Lowell Peterson is stepping down as executive director of the Writers Guild of America East after 15 years.
Peterson’s tenure will end with the expiration of his current contract on November 15 — one month after the ratification of the WGA’s latest contract with the AMPTP that brought a 148-day strike to an end.
“I am proud of my work to transform the Wgae into a more powerful force for writers,” Peterson said in a statement. “I am grateful to have had the opportunity to collaborate with such extraordinary leaders, members, and staff. Their activism, creativity, and diligence have been essential to our success.”
During Peterson’s time as executive director, the union’s membership doubled, growing both its core of television and film writers as well as expanding into formerly non-union sectors such as nonfiction TV, podcasting, and online media.

WGA East Executive Director Lowell Peterson is stepping down from his post at the expiration of his contract on Nov. 15. Peterson was with the guild for 15 years.
During Peterson’s tenure, the guild says the union’s membership doubled among television and movie writers as well as with formerly non-union sectors such as nonfiction TV, podcasting, and online media. “Dancing With the Stars” kicked off Latin night on Tuesday in week 2 of the season 32 competition, and the 13 stars still standing — along with their pro partners — brought their very best to the ballroom.
The second week of competition proved to be a particular challenge for the couples, with a focus on Latin routines that required a bit more style, speed and physicality. As always, some celebs shined bright as standout talents, while others stumbled hard.
After two hours of passionate and greatly improved dances, it was up to America to vote on who deserved to perform once more next week, and whose time was already up.
In the end — through a combination of judges scores and audience votes — two couples were determined to be in jeopardy: Jamie Lynn Spears and Alan Bersten, as well as Adrian Peterson and Britt Stewart.

Who really gave the best performance on “Dancing with the Stars” during “Premiere Night“? We asked fans to respond in our poll at the end of the show, and they were divided pretty evenly three ways. Overall, they agreed with judges Derek Hough, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba about the top three performances, but disagreed about the order. Scroll down to see our complete poll results.
The best performance of the night according to the judges with a total score of 22 out of 30 was “The Bachelorette” star Charity Lawson, who danced a tango. She got sevens from Hough and Inaba and an eight from Tonioli — the only eight any contestant received that night. Tied for second place with sevens across the board from the judges for a total of 21 out of 30 were “Vaanderpump Rules” reality star Ariana Madix dancing another tango and Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Jason Mraz with a cha cha.

Dancing With the Stars has come under attack for casting controversial NFL star Adrian Peterson, as well as its decision to go ahead amid the ongoing writers’ and actors’ strikes. Professional dancer Cheryl Burke, who was part of DWTS from Season 2 to Season 31, spoke out about Peterson’s casting, saying that she agreed with fellow pro Sharna Burgess, who previously said she’d have walked out of the show if she’d been paired with the football star. “We’ve had a lot of controversial characters on the show. I think I danced with Ray Lewis — that was a bit controversial. When it comes to abuse, I do agree with Sharna,” Burke told Variety regarding Peterson’s inclusion in the upcoming season. “However, you sign up to be a part of the show. And honestly, as a pro dancer, whoever walks in through that door, you don’t turn around and walk out,...

The cast for the 32nd season of “Dancing With the Stars” has been revealed, and Sharna Burgess has some thoughts.
Burgess, a longtime “DWTS” pro who won the Mirrorball trophy in season 27, singled out one member of the new cast that left her “shocked.”
“The man has been charged with child abuse… That is just devastating for me.”
Speaking with boyfriend (and former “DWTS” dance partner) Brian Austin Green on their “Oldish” podcast, Burgess — who’s sitting out this season — discussed the lineup, which includes Mira Sorvino, Alyson Hannigan, Ariana Madix, Jamie Lynn Spears and “Brady Bunch” alum Barry Williams.

Animated flicks don’t get the justice they deserve when it comes to the Academy Awards. So often, animated movies are some of the most original, memorable, and well-told stories of the entire year yet they are, more often than not, confined to the category of Best Animated Picture.
“Snow White and the Seven Dwarves,” “Fantasia,” “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “The Lion King,” “Toy Story,” “Finding Nemo,” “Wall-e,” “Shrek,” and last year’s Best Animated Picture winner, “Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio,” are just a handful of all-time classic movies that aren’t great animated movies, they are great movies period. Despite this, however, we have only had three animated movies in Oscars history that have been nominated for Best Picture.

It might seem contradictory that the rise of short video clip popularity coincided with the popularity of long form journalism, but Netflix may be the common factor. The streaming network didn’t invent true crime documentation, but it helped shape the style, and keeps a vast repository of the hottest cold cases.
Real-life crime stories are riveting, whether the watcher is concerned about avoiding such events or solving them. There is something for every taste, from feature-length documentaries to full series. Not all crimes are equal under the laws of public opinion, but these are some of the most dangerously addictive true crime offerings currently available on Netflix.

The rise of Jordan Peterson as a conservative intellectual figure had everything to do with his rhetoric. The Canadian psychologist and professor first entered the public spotlight in 2016 by denouncing students at the University of Toronto who preferred to use gender-neutral pronouns. His 2018 bestseller, 12 Rules for Life, argues for traditional values as inseparable from social order. Online, he strikes an endlessly confrontational pose — responding, for example, to a 2022 Twitter suspension for deadnaming the actor Elliot Page with the immortal pronouncement, “Up yours, woke moralists! We’ll see who cancels who.

Tory Lanez may be behind bars, but that hasn’t prevented him from getting married.
Complex reports that the Canadian rapper (whose real name is Daystar Peterson) recently tied the knot with Raina Chassagne, with whom he shares 6-year-old son, Kai. The revelation of his marital status comes from court documents obtained by legal journalist Meghann Cuniff, who reported on Friday that Lanez had filed a motion with the Superior Court of Los Angeles to be released on bail while he appeals his felony conviction over the shooting.

Iga Swiatek cruised through her opening match at the 2023 US Open , beating Sweden's Rebecca Peterson .
The math was simple ahead of the 2023 US Open. Last year's champion, Swiatek is defending 2000 points, and since Aryna Sabalenka, who is her main competitor for the world no. 1 spot, reached the semifinals in 2022, the Belarusian needs only to reach the same round as the 22-year-old Pole to surpass her in the rankings.
Anytime the current world no. 1, who spent already 74 weeks atop of the rankings , goes one round further than the world no. 2, she will keep the spot. Therefore, the very first match of her 2023 campaign at Flushing Meadows was already important, and she faced a tricky opponent in Rebecca Peterson.
The two met two times on the Wta Tour before, with both matches being at majors. The Polish player won both encounters in straight sets, and she wanted to do the same thing also at the 2023 US Open.

Can we all at least agree that any two people can agree on something?
Piers Morgan brought conservative firebrand Tomi Lahren on as a counter-guest Thursday to vegan firebrand activist Tash Peterson, and for the briefest of moments – blink and you’d miss it – the two found common ground.
“Piers Morgan Uncensored” kicked off with Peterson – aka “V-Gan Booty” – whose calling card is, among other provocative tactics, to walk into restaurants playing audio of animals screaming at slaughter. Morgan spent the first few minutes tearing into Peterson’s modus operandi, suggesting she was only “annoying” people and contributing to a global downward trend in adopting veganism.
“I know you get passionate about it, but I think it’s very off-putting – it’s a bit like the Just Stop Oil protesters,” Morgan said. “It has the opposite effect.”

In a sitdown chat with People, Peterson recalled her interactions with Brad Pitt during the real estate transaction and what she disclosed to him before he signed on the dotted line. The famed scream queen recalled warning Pitt about supernatural activity in the home. She wanted to ensure Brad Pitt knew he was buying a haunted house before he purchased the property.
