Coonskin (1974)
10/10

When I had viewed Coonskin last summer, I had expected it to be offensively racist and tasteless.

But boy was I wrong...

Ralph Bakshi is a master with satire. He had spun the Uncle Remus tales and Disney's Song of The South with an 70s urban twist, exposing how racist they really are.

I will certainly check out more of Bakshi's films, though I am a bit leery of Cool World.

10/10 stars.
