I've seen numerous comparisons to "The King of Comedy" (which, shamefully, I've yet to see) but this felt more to me like De Niro's "Falling Down". Ex-wife and kid are estranged, he's out of a job and on the steady slide into despair. Villainous turn pretty much guaranteed.
There's a weird pivot at the halfway mark to a stalker movie and Snipes becomes his unhinged obsession and that's where it lost me. It's not a *great* movie, but it's definitely uncomfortable, especially with a soundtrack that swings between the Stones and Nine Inch Nails (yikes).
Credit where it's due, the two stars aren't phoning it in, so there's that. I dunno man, I guess it's worth it for the Tony Scott completist out there.
