(spoilers yes) Film is carried by the acting. Period. The storyline, the dialogs sometimes fall weak and I think that is related to the lack of character development. The characters dialogues seem to not be coherent example Doris is very eloquent both in class and with her friend but during the one time she does speak back to her mother, she says "he is half dead anyway" after a completely cruel action by her mother - did not fit at all because she is not that person, even at her worst moments or at least that's the problem. Too many themes being explored at the same time but without any depth. It's like someone decided to patch up a few contemporary ideas. So all in all, watchable but I could not get invested in any character, hence the story.
