Great episode (spoilers)
rfeinberg-228 April 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Huh...I thought it was a really good episode! First of all, they created a cute way for Luke and Lorelai to reestablish their comfortable repartee. Now they can treat the last year or so as the bad dream it was and get on with their inevitable matrimonial bliss. I don't know if either one of them is more at fault for the breakup, both are extremely high maintenance individuals... but that's why they're so good together. Anyway, their breakup never rang true to me to begin with.

I enjoyed seeing such a Paris (and Doyle)-centric episode. Liza Weil is a treasure.

Logan IS getting more likable; too bad it was only after losing a million bucks or whatever that he finally learned a tiny bit of humility. Now, the preview for next week's episode hints at a marriage proposal from Logan. This is where I think Rory Gilmore should NOT "have it all" ... just keep the boyfriend on hold and maintain the status quo... focus on that career she's been so obsessed with since Episode 1... she's way too young to be considering marriage! Once again it was Paris who hit the nail on the head, when she said something to the effect of "This wasn't the plan, I wasn't supposed to meet 'The One' until I was in my 30s and established!" Take heed, Rory!

Car shopping
ISmellSnow25 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Lorelai is finally back at Luke's diner but it's awkward and still kind of weird and she doesn't stay long. She ends up needing to find a new car because her Jeep is so old and she had to resort to riding a bike to work. Tell me how that makes sense? The Dragonfly Inn can't be that far away, she walks from there to Luke's all the time. She could've walked instead of riding a bike. Anyways, she asks Luke to help her shop for a car and they argue but Lorelai realizes that it means they are slowly becoming friends again.

Meanwhile, Jackson has to stay at Lorelais while Sookie takes care of their kids who have chicken pox. He accidentally breaks Lorelais dollhouse. His and Sookies storyline seem really realistic to me. Sookie is taking her anger toward her new pregnancy out on Jackson but they end up talking about it and everything works out.

Paris opening her acceptance letters is so awesome. The way she goes from being ecstatic to complete meltdown is fantastic and totally something I would do. She tells Rory she is breaking up with Doyle because she doesn't want their relationship to determine what her future will be. Rory starts to think about her relationship with Logan, hinting a break up soon. Rory finds out she doesn't get the fellowship job she wanted. Boo.

Downward Spiral Now in Motion
Aqtania-125 April 2007
Warning: Spoilers
This was the worst episode of the season. As they get ready to wrap up this season/series they have Lorelei and Luke getting back together. It's awkward at first, of course, but plainly obvious that they will end up together. It is also plainly obvious that Logan and Rory will not end up together. And they are not being subtle about it. After years of dismissing the rantings of Paris Gellar for the kooky ravings that they are Rory suddenly decides that she is going to to listen to Paris and give weight to her comments! Then she gets the rejection from the NY Times Fellowship that we could all see coming. Now we get a confused, anxious, insecure little girl suddenly stressing about her future after Yale. Not the brave, intelligent and loving Rory we've known for seven years. Now, suddenly, it is perfectly fine for Rory to consider dumping Logan so that she can pursue a career. How 1950s! We can all see it coming. Rory will reject Logan because she has to live her dream. Really? BULL! This is so contrived and cliché ridden. Rory can't have the man she loves and work too? Lots of women do that every day. The story makes zero sense and does not flow out of any of the previous story arcs. It's just..HEY...this may be the last season so let's fabricate some reason to breakup Rory & Logan and send Rory off as a single career girl. Well it doesn't work that way. Instead of making Rory look modern and independent they are making her look insecure, cold, unfeeling, and really quite stupid. I hope the writers and Executive Producer David Rosenthal are proud of the havoc they are causing on this show. They have now succeeded in even making Rory Gilmore look pathetic and unlikeable. This is all based on much publicized spoilers, of course. Until the shows actually air I continue to hold out hope that these people will have come to their senses and filmed alternate endings to this season's horrible finishing storyline for Rory and Logan.

setting up for the finale
redmaryroses30 April 2007
Warning: Spoilers
I don't agree with the last commenter. Rory hasn't been that strong and occasionally falters. After all she is 21/22 and at that age you can't be that strong willed. Life is still coming at you with instability. Of course she's going to have issues. She just lost the one thing she really wanted for her career, so much that she didn't have her Plan B figured out yet. I know how she feels I've been there. I kind of am there still.

I think she needs some single time. After all...her life has been one guy to another. The time she spent without she was faltering. Remember her "dry spell" at Yale between Jess and what she ended up doing? I mean a strong woman isn't going to go sleep with a married man and think there are no consequences. Rory is still learning how to be a strong woman and I don't think it helps that she's always got her boy toys to fall back on.

As for the whole Lorelai/Luke thing I'm glad they're back in their old banter. I appreciate their friendship. I don't appreciate their ill played relationship so I really hope if they go down that road again it won't be as painful to watch.

Paris was funny. I really hope they max out her time on the rest of the show.

What I'm dying to see is Kwan/Quan and Steve and Lane. Where art thou little mixed twin babies whose names the writers must explain or I will continue believing they are random and not what I was hoping for (a tribute to Lane and Zach's musical favorites). I would have preferred Marco and Polo.
