Adequate short
laduqesa11 January 2022
I watched this as part of the Male Gaze Hard Men collection. This was one of the better films in the selection.

The male French lead was an attractive bottom and had a dilemma as to whether to fall in love or "hunt". We get the answer at the end and it's not a straight one.

I'm glad I speak good French as part of the dialogue was in that language and the version I watched did not have subtitles. This is worth finding as a standalone film to watch without the distraction of some of the other dreadful shorts on the DVD.

Boys on Film in a nutshell Warning: Spoilers
"Serene Hunter" is a 14-minute live action short film from 2007, so this one has its 10th anniversary this year. It was written and directed by Jason Bushman and he is also one of the cast members in here actually. One of the main reasons why this short movie is not totally forgotten by now is probably that it is included on the very first edition of Boys on Film and having seen many short films that are included on these DVDs I must say that this film here is pretty much the epitome of an entry to this series. Mediocre acting, weak writing and steamy gay sex scenes to cover for the lack of quality story-telling. I never cared for any of the characters in here, their interactions felt fake and unauthentic and the filmmaker's shot at emotional depth went completely wrong. It's not a surprise basically nobody who worked on this project has managed to make it big in the last decade. If you still want to check it out, don't say you haven't been warned. And make sure you get subtitles unless you are fluent in French as this is the language the film is in. Major thumbs-down from me though. Don't watch.

nice

A nice, very easy French short comedy. A hunter, his options and dilemmas, his free life and partners. And nothing more. The good point, no doubts, the musi is.

Needs Expansion.

Although the story was a little bit weak, I liked the nudity. It could be made longer and with more detail the story could flourish.

Short and sweet gay film starring sexy guys
ksf-25 February 2009
One of seven gay shorts on the "S is for Sexy" DVD collection from Wolfe Video. It's in French with English subtitles. It has nudity and sexual situations, and all the men are incredibly hot. Written, directed, and starring Jason Bushman, it has several themes; first, it's a debate over monogamy vs. open relationship, and also asks whether old, longtime friends should/would change their friendship if they sleep together. Unlike many other films that bring up these issues, this one is short and sweet -- thirteen minutes. Co-stars Eric Debets and Jonathan Stringat. Odd that the cast member with the smallest role here (Flannan Obé) appears to have the longest resume in films/TV, but it all works quite well. Also some good street scenes of Paris. Fun little shortie.
