"Masters of Sex" is getting some legal advice from David Walton.
The About a Boy actor will recur on Season 4 of the Showtime series as Abe Perlman, Masters and Johnson’s high-powered attorney in a case that pits science against the State, our sister site Deadline reports.
Having represented the Black Panthers and Weathermen, the charming and handsome Perlman loves a highly publicized legal battle. He would be considered cocky if he didn’t have the brains and expertise to back up his reputation.

Though many have called Jane Lynch’s Glee character, Sue Sylvester, demonic over the show’s six seasons, the actress’s next character will apparently be a little less satanic and a little more angelic, as she has landed the title role in CBS’ upcoming pilot Angel From Hell. Per Deadline, Angel From Hell, which comes from writer and executive producer Tad Quill (Bent, Scrubs), will focus on the “brassy and flamboyant” Amy (who will be played by Lynch), who enters a young woman named Allison’s life, claiming to be her guardian angel. The pair form an unlikely friendship, but Allison remains unsure whether Amy is indeed an angel or just crazy. Angel From Hell is Lynch’s first major project since Glee wrapped production on its sixth and final season last month. Lynch won an Emmy for her role as Sue Sylvester during the show’s first season...

Togetherness, Season 1, Episode 1: “Family Day”
Written by Jay Duplass, Mark Duplass, and Steve Zissis
Directed by Jay Duplass and Mark Duplass
Airs Sundays at 9:30pm (Et) on HBO
If Togetherness was only about Amanda Peet’s Tina being dishonest with herself about how her behavior around men and friends affects the rest of her life, it could be a great show. Peet is performing far out of her normal lane with this zany, insecure women who either cannot or refuses to acknowledge social cues from men she dates. Long the straight woman in her television and film roles (except for Bent- Rip Bent!), Peet is impossible to look away from here, constantly the most entertaining yet cringe-worthy of the four main characters introduced in the pilot. Her misguided attempts to force a relationship out of what is so obviously a brief hookup with a perfectly cast Ken Marino...

In a small victory, NBC has renewed a freshman comedy. In a predictable defeat, NBC has cancelled a J.J. Abrams-produced drama. Actually, ABC did a lot more than that on Friday (May 9), but you've already seen Sepinwall's stories on the glorious renewal of "Hannibal" and the tragic cancellation of "Community." You can decide if you feel similar elation and dejected about this latest bit of NBC Good News/Bad News: The network has ordered a second season for "About a Boy," but NBC has also confirmed that the second season will be the end of the line for "Revolution." The renewal for "About a Boy" wasn't a shocker. Boosted by "The Voice," the Jason Katims adaptation of the Nick Hornby novel and subsequent film has been NBC's biggest comedy success in several years, even if ratings have been slipping somewhat in recent weeks. As the news broke, there...

David Walton might deny that he shares Hugh Grant's "bumbling charm," but the actor has a brand of charisma all his own. His comedic timing and, admittedly, his good looks made him a standout on 2012's short-lived but critically lauded series Bent and also earned him admirers as a love interest to Zooey Deschanel's character on New Girl. Now, he's poised to reinvent one of Grant's beloved characters with NBC's sitcom About a Boy, based on the novel and film by the same name and debuting Saturday night after the Olympics. David stopped by our La studio to talk about why the series will spell a departure from the movie it's based on, his character's romantic future with Minnie Driver's, and the challenges of playing a responsibility-dodging single guy when, in reality, he's a much more stable father of two.

In the pantheon of movies based on television shows, there’s way more bad than good. Actually, now that I think about it, they probably don’t even deserve their own pantheon—more like a dimly lit janitorial closet or a Burger King bathroom. Sure, there’s some high-quality examples like The Untouchables or The Fugitive, but more often than not you end up with Lost in Space or Land of the Lost. When the content’s flowing in the other direction, from big screen to small, there’s a slightly better hit-to-holy-bananas-what-a-miss ratio, but still for every M*A...

Update 2:15 p.m. Et: The network has also added "Family Guide," a comedy from writer DJ Nash ("'Til Death," "Bent") that stars J.K. Simmons, Parker Posey and Eli Baker.
NBC has started giving series orders to its pilots for the 2013-14 season, and two dramas and two comedies are the first to get good news.
The dramas are "Believe," a J.J. Abrams- and Alfonso Cuaron-produced show about a young girl with a special gift and the ex-con tasked with protecting her; and "Crisis," about a Secret Service agent who becomes involved in an international incident in his first day on the job. It comes from creator Rand Ravich, who was behind NBC's "Life" a few years ago.
"Believe" stars young actress Johnny Sequoyah and Jake McLaughlin ("Savages," the "Crash" series) in the two lead roles, along with Delroy Lindo, Jamie Chung, Sienna Guillory and Kyle MacLachlan.

In less than a month, the broadcast networks will be announcing which new series they're picking up for the 2013-14 season. Zap2it can't wait for that, though, so we're doing a series of pilot previews.
In addition to this gallery of 22 shows we hope the networks order to series, we're also going to take a closer look at pilot scripts from each of the networks. While a lot can change between now and a series premiere, and these are by no means full reviews, we hope to offer some insight at some of the projects the networks are considering this spring.
Nick Hornby's terrific 1998 novel, "About a Boy," about a wealthy thirtysomething slacker bonding with a middle school outcast already inspired a well-liked movie starring Hugh Grant and a pre-"X-Men" Nicholas Hoult. Now NBC wants to see if it might work as a weekly TV series too.

Between hosting the red carpet special and singing the closing song with Seth MacFarlane during last night's Oscar broadcast, Kristin Chenoweth had a noticeable presence at the Academy Awards this weekend, so now seems like a good time to unveil the trailer for Family Weekend, Benjamin Epps' comedy, starring Chenoweth, about a teen who takes her parents hostage for the weekend. Directed by Benjamin Epps, Family Weekend stars Olesya Rulin as a 16-year-old overachiever who decides to tie her parents up and try to bring her family back together after they miss her jump-roping competition. Chenoweth is playing the career-driven mother and Matthew Modine plays the carefree artist, who might not be contributing much to the family financially. Also among the cast is Shirley Jones, Eddie Hassell and Joey King, whose recent credits include The Dark Knight Rises and the unfortunately short-lived NBC comedy Bent. Here's the trailer, which...

It’s pilot season, which means your favorite out-of-work TV actors, actresses, creators and writers are getting a chance to return to the small screen once more.
Although we have yet to know what new series we’ll see next year, the networks have been busy selecting projects to consider for their schedules. So far, almost 100 scripts have been chosen, and audiences will only get to see a handful actually come to fruition.
Several are duds, but there are a few promising prospects that I hope network executives will keep around for the 2013-2014 season — even if it means they have to cancel old favorites to make room (just keep Parks and Recreation, Ok, NBC?).
Check out my choices for the best prospective pilots NBC and CBS have ordered, and come back tomorrow to see my picks for ABC and Fox:

A quick review of tonight's "New Girl" coming up just as soon as I panic moonwalk away from you... Okay, that's two episodes in a row that have done very well by this Nick/Jess romantic stuff. For the time being, I will trust Liz Meriwether and company on where this is going. "Table 34" followed up last week's sparkling kiss scene with a whole lot of uncomfortable, funny regret from both Jess and Nick. It unfortunately means the end of Jess and Sam — someone please go watch the six episodes of "Bent" and write David Walton another series lead, okay?...
