Thanksgiving
bkoganbing12 January 2017
The Reagans get together for Thanksgiving, but it looks like it's going to be a close run thing.

Tom Selleck and the new mayor are still feeling each other out as Selleck and he are discussing possible terrorist attacks. That parade the Macy's has is always considered a likely target. No one wants that happening on their watch.

Will Estes and Nick Turturro while on parade duty see a body fall 22 stories. The deceased is a young Arab American girl. When Donnie Wahlberg and Marissa Ramirez catch the case given his Iraq war service his mind runs to an honor killing which always is the woman. As it turns out it's a more American style motive.

Len Cariou suffers a heart attack while he and Amy Carlson are preparing the Reagan Thanksgiving turkey. But nothing stops a Reagan family meal especially Thanksgiving as we learn in a most happy ending.

Len Cariou Acts Up A Thrombosis of A Storm ***1/2
edwagreen16 December 2011
Warning: Spoilers
Len Cariou's simulation of suffering a heart attack was about the best I've seen since Oskar Werner's magnificent performance, where he does a fatal one in the memorable 1965 drama "Ship of Fools."

That being said, we see an excellent representation here of Indian culture where the son of the family assumes responsibility in watching over his female sisters.

The Regan Family is always appealing since we see strong family ties abounding. They will not let a "mere" coronary deter them from having their traditional Thanksgiving Dinner.

I loved the beginning where Frank and the mayor are handing out meals to the less fortunate prior to the holiday. Always a great photo opportunity for all officials involved during these times.

If somebody's named Ayla Demir, she's Turkish not Indian.
toprak_artu20 November 2011
If somebody is named Ayla Demir, you can be sure that person is Turkish, naming a character Ayla Demir and making her Indian is like naming an Italian character Patrick O'Hara. A person named, say Tarik Ziyad can be either Turkish or Arab but both the name Ayla and especially the surname Demir are specific to Turkish. Actually, 'demir' means iron in Turkish. A kind of mistake that is very easy to correct in the age of internet while writing the script. It may seem unimportant if you're unaware of the difference, but if you are, the feeling of reality is gone. Well, that is all I like to mention about the show but since there is the minimum of 10 lines rule I guess I'll have to write another sentence and this is that sentence.
