Whiny soldiers
samcallan29 March 2020
Note: I am behind in watching the series so posting as I can.

I like Haqqani as a character. He has depth.

But the whiny soldiers in Afghanistan are really over the top. I get that people can be superstitious and maybe soldiers being more than average. But the treatment of Max seems way over the top.

I really like Costa Ronin especially on The Americans. Is he destined to play only Soviet/Russian spy characters? I am curious about the relationship between Carrie and Gromov.

It seems odd that the Pakistanis would be able to do all of this after the US Embassy incident. Why would they be allowed anywhere near the peace talks? Seems like the US would be ending recognition and running ops against them.

Back in the Middle East

I'm glad they decided to have the final season take place in the Middle East. The show is more exciting when Carrie is out of the U. S. and when she doesn't have a daughter to take care of or a family trying to hold her back.

It's good to see Haqqani again. I thought he was an interesting character back in Series 4.

False Friends

Warning: Spoilers
This season has been interesting overall, but it just progresses at such a slow pace. The intense moments like the father and son are just not what they used to be. Maybe we're numb from other premium cable shows pushing the boundaries so nothing shocks us anymore, but I just don't feel like this is the same kind of Homeland we used to see.

Closing story better than the earlier seasons
globalisationana25 February 2020
Might not be like the fist and second series but it is a huge improvement from the last three seasons and incredible better pace and ore interesting and well performed than the former season, which I think it was the worst. They are back to Pakistan and Afghanistan and the story is closing, it makes sense.

Warning: Spoilers
Back to a slower pace with this episode. There were definitely some interesting things happening; the Saul-Haqqani dynamic was really nice to watch, and I'm intrigued by Carrie and Yevgeny. The plot lines are all setting up, and this episode established a couple more, and when they start to intersect I can tell it will be immense. This episode was more of a slow burner set up, and some of the events were kinda baffling. I don't really get what's going on between Max and all the soldiers or why it's necessary, and Haqqani's son being against him seemed pretty forced and chucked in to progress the plot. I feel like that's the kinda thing that can't just happen straight away like it has done here. Overall it was an ok episode but it's set the scene for potentially amazing future episodes.

The show is more like a guest who has overstayed the welcome.

Season 8
pieraussie2 March 2020
3 episodes in, this is so far the most boring of the 8 seasons of Homeland. 3 episodes in Carrie did not remember to have a daughter somewhere, all she cares is USA bs propaganda.
