Best Directors & Creators

by morty_man91 | created - 06 Dec 2016 | updated - 05 Dec 2021 | Public

Highly subjective and only taking into account the films I've seen. I have a weird over-complicated point system.

Every film I see is rated from 1-10 10 = 5 points 9 = 4 points 8 = 3 points 7 = 2 points 6 = 1 point 5 = 0 points 4 = -1 point 3 = -2 points 2 = -3 points 1 = -4 points

1. The sum of the points of every film I've seen from a director is added together and decides how the director is ranked on this list. 2. When one director accumulates 10 points or more, that director reaches the top tier. 3. In the top tier, the sum of their points is divided by the number of films of theirs that I've seen to give a score which decides their ranking in the top tier. 4. To compensate for one-hit-wonders, I've added a bonus rule. One-hit-wonders is when I'll see two-three amazing films from some young, new director which will place them at the top of the list. Meanwhile, I've seen five equally great films by another director, but also two mediocre ones which will drag their score down. Therefore a bonus is added when I've seen five or more films by a director. Five films grants you 0.5 points in bonus. 6 films = 0.6 bonus, and so on. 5. For a director to get on the list in the first place, I have to have watched two of their films, with any ratings. OR one film that I've rated 8 or higher. When it comes to female directors I only need to watch one film, no matter the rating, before putting them on the list, this is to help me watching more films by female directors. Some showrunners and creators of TV series get honorary placement on the list.

For example: If I see six films from director Stevley Spielrick, rating them as follows:

Spartajaws - Rating: 10 (5 points)

Lolita's List - Rating: 4 (-1 point)

Dr. Joneslove and the Temple of the Atomic Bomb - Rating: 5 (0 points)

2041: An Amistad Odyssey - Rating: 8 (3 points)

A Clockwork Purple - Rating: 8 (3 points)

Saving Private Pyle - Rating: 10 (5 points)

Spielrick gets a sum of 15 points. 15 is then divided by the number of films. 15 / 6 = 2,5 Then because I've seen 6 of his films (5 films or more), it adds a bonus of 0.6 points. 2,5 + 0,6 = 3,1

Stevley Spielrick gets a score of 3,1 and is ranked in the top tier accordingly.
