One of the finest hours of television I've ever seen
eoswaldbigred14 January 2022
The build up to this final episode had me on edge. Having not read the novel, I had so much trepidation as to what would happen.

It was tense, moving, beautiful - had me wracked with sobs at one point. So very beautifully filmed, acted, edited, directed, with the music and cinematography adding so much to the tension and tragedy, and finally, hopefulness.

I will be honest that this was not an easy series altogether. Still living in the midst of this pandemic, the initial episodes filled me with so much anxiety, I had to stop and watch a couple of comedies before I got back to this. But I'm glad I did. The journey to this final hour was well worth it. Brava/Bravo to all involved.

SENSATIONAL STORYTELLING!

Wow, this show was absolutely outstanding. From start to finish just masterfully constructed and poetically told, making the events of the finale that much more impactful.

I wish more shows were written and acted with such care and detail. A true gem and a viewing experience I will treasure.

It has everything you could ever want in a finale

Warning: Spoilers
I defy anyone to not weep when a handful of people start singing "Midnight Train to Georgia" toward the end. This episode had EVERYTHING. Redemption, forgiveness, love, family and new beginnings. It is incredibly played out. Camera work, soundtrack, amazing acting. What more could you possibly want? It is one of the finest episodes I have seen in years. It is beautiful. Everything is brought back in a full circle. I warn you...it's a real tear jerker.

FINALLY! A Post Apocalyptic Story With A + Ending!
wildernessbarbie17 January 2022
I love disaster films of all kinds, especially the pre and post apocalyptic ones. However, too often it seems the writers get lost in the depths of the genre and neglect to imbue any real hope into the storylines.

To often they spend the majority of the script focused on how awful humans can be to one another, that they neglect to remind us of how amazing we can be as well, especially when disaster strikes.

This story was ROUGH to bear witness to, still in the thick of yet another wave of our own pandemic, one largely of our own making. However, watching the character's growth and evolutions made it all worth it and gives me hope that we too can make it through this with our sanity and souls intact.

Thank you to all the cast and crew who worked so hard during the pandemic to bring this story to the world. We are all the better for it.

Wow

I've first started this show the day the first and second episodes were aired, and to be honest I didn't like it that much, then I watched the third and stopped till further notice, with all the Covid things it was a bit stressful to watch.

Now, 16/march/2022, i have binge watched the rest of the show, and its really one of the best mini series to ever be, the way all the characters are connected and the way they're just living life, just amazing.

Totally recommended, a solid 10/10 episode and a show.

Much better than the book
uberjesus15 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Not to spoil the book - which I also loved - but this show keyed in on many emotional moments and character relationships that should've existed in it, but didn't.

I really loved this episode! Things were wrapped up beautifully! Even The Prophet's Arc - though peculiar at first glance - was ultimately satisfying.

Kirsten's performance was really excellent - her face says it all a number of times.

I was afraid for this episode because a lot of the even numbered episodes - particularly those including The Prophet - were slow burns. This was great; it tied everything up in a near bow while still being original and yet true to the source material...

The fact is that not everything after the apocalypse has to be barbaric and violent. Sometimes art and religion are what we take away after civilization has dissipated. And if art and music and religion are around has civilization even really disappeared? No! It's just hibernating. So if you want an optimistic post-apocalyptic character (study/studies) this is for you.

Masterful

I'd never even heard of Station Eleven, neither the book nor this show, until only about a week ago. I only stumbled into this show because I was googling for a sci-fi show to watch, and this show was included in some top 20 list.

I initially figured the show was just building up to the zombie mutants, cities blowing up, or warring survivalist factions. In fact, it was in anticipation of these stereotypical sci-fi post-apocalyptic tropes that led me to continue watching. But... it became abundantly clear that this isn't that type of show, and instead, I found myself discovering a drama dedicated to hope.

Post apocalyptic shows are frequently cynical, showing humans to be quick to fall to their baser instincts. Station Eleven on the other hand, shows us that even in the bleakest of situations, there are still people who try to do the right things.

And so we have 10 episodes dedicated to the goodness of the human condition, building up to a final episode that features a scene in which everyone was waiting in anticipation to see, and it does so in the most wonderfully touching way possible.

I am glad to have witnessed this masterpiece of a miniseries. I only wish I'd heard about this show earlier to watch it during the lockdown!

upselling
Rob-O-Cop22 July 2022
This series started really well.

Matilda Lawler and Himesh Patel, weaved an intriguing story and were standout actors. Episode one was fantastic and hinted at a great story.

Unfortunately episode 2 introduced the upsell, the add on bit we didn't really want, the traveling troop of unlikable actors keeping culture alive in the post pandemic world, and we kind of had to suffer through their plot details in order to get the story of Jeevan and Kirsten.

Yes the book does have all that prophet stuff in it, so I guess they had to include it but it was either badly handled to the point that it paled in comparison to the 'A' story, or it just wasn't that good in the book.

It certainly put an awkward bend in it that I didn't really enjoy.

Big happy ending though, with the guy who trained young children to suicide bomb an adult, walking off into the distance reunited with his mum, awwwww, that's nice.

I'm not sure how the book dealt with that part of the story, the suicide bomb kids but there was no coming back from that for me. It seemed unnecessary when there was a perfectly good story about the pandemic and survival to tell, but how the show just brushed aside that horrific detail, and got on board with reuniting the psychopath with his mum. They never really sold why he turn out to be a psychopath either, cos his dad died? I don't get it.

So this was half a very good series and half a "do we really have to tolerate this to get that?" I feel really conflicted about it. Half of this was really bad, but, half of this was really good, and that's mostly in the book, but is the book half bad too? I don't intend to read it to find out.

Also the brooklyn hipster stuff, yuck.

fair end
Kirpianuscus29 May 2022
I supposed, to read the novel behind see the series in, in the case of Station Eleven, one of inspired things. Not to compare but for feel a special form of joy front to wise manner to use the material of book, to define the characters traits, not the last, for music.

It reminds me Captain Fracasse and Carnivale series. Not only for Theater but for the smart way to define relations between people, hope and a sort of admirable crafted melancholia. An episode about conquest of peace , meetings, reconciliations, parents and children. And about Hamlet.

So, just beautiful series, inspired adaptation of great novel, high acting.

Wow incredible, Good for Tyler man.
rzpieniak26 May 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Man that's really awesome that everyone lives happily ever after including Tyler, the dude who likes to tie bombs to children because of a graphic novel. It's all good guys even when he planned for it to happen again. Thank god it didn't, that sure was a hell of a lot of bombs! She thought Jeevah left her, thought maybe that could of been mentioned. This show is kinda bad...

This was a huge and pretentious waste of time.
wayne-185-99356728 January 2022
After a promising pilot episode, and teases of something to be revealed at the end of it all, this show goes nowhere fast. Sure, after stealing from the first portion of The Stand, it then turns into a self-important, nonsensical, pretentious waste of time.

If you are a discerning viewer, avoid this poorly done snooze-fest.

I could go on, but won't. I wish this series hadn't.
