Imprisoned and Betrayed
claudio_carvalho1 November 2009
Andy arrives in Maryann's orgy, shoots and saves Sam from the sacrifice. Sookie and Hugo are arrested in the basement of the Church, and Sookie discovers that her companion is the traitor that has informed the Fellowship of the Sun about her arrival. Lorena does not allow Bill to leave the room to save Sookie, and recalls their past together in Los Angeles in 1935. When Steve discovers the true identity of Sookie, he believes that Jason is a traitor and asks Gabe to kill him; however, Jason reacts and escapes. Sarah finds Jason and shoots him on the chest. Meanwhile Jessica and Hoyt are in deep love for each other and sleep together in the Hotel Carmilla. Sam meets Daphne and she discloses that she had fun with him; further she tells that Maryann uses her energy to control humans, but shape shifters should go to her on their free will. She says that Maryann is a pagan Goddess, called Kali, Lilith, Isis, Gaia but she is a Maenad, the female follower of Dionysus. Gabe comes to Sookie's cell to rape her, but Godric saves her.

In this excellent episode, the true identity of Maryann is finally disclosed and she is an evil Goddess. The identity of the traitor is also reveled when Sookie reads the mind of Hugo. Andy and Sam seem to be the only persons that are not controlled by the evil energy of Maryann. The poor fate of Daphne shows the cruelty of Maryann. My vote is nine.

Sam escapes but things get worse for Sookie!
Tweekums30 October 2010
Warning: Spoilers
As the previous episode drew to a close it looked as if Sam was going to be killed after Daphne betrayed him to Maryann; luckily for him Officer Andy Bellefleur interrupted the events. The next morning none of the people acting under the influence of Maryann had any memories of the night before so Andy's's accusations sound like the ravings of a mad man. Two other people know what happened though; Sam and Daphne, she however tells him that she serves Maryann through choice claiming that Maryann is the handmaiden of Dionysus. Sam might have escaped his dangers but it Seems Sookie is in more danger than ever as Lorena is preventing Bill from rescuing her and Hugo has told the Church who Sookie is which not only increases the threat to her but also to her brother as they assume he must be involved too.

This was another good episode; I was pleased to see Sam escape from Maryann although it is clear that she still presents a danger to him and the other people of Bon Temps; Michelle Forbes is great in the role. The continuing romance between new vampire Jessica and Hoyt provide some pleasant relief from the constant threat to other characters and at the end it was fun to see Godric attacking the man who was attempting to rape Sookie… although I'm not sure how safe she is with Godric!

It's a bird...it's a plane...no, it's a bird...no, it's Sam!!
skay_baltimore23 August 2010
Warning: Spoilers
Andy saves the day by busting up the orgy; Sam narrowly escapes Maryann's clutches by shapeshifting into a bird.

Lorena: "I loathe musicals. They're always so...desperately cheerful, aren't they?" Throughout this episode Lorena prevents Bill from helping Sookie.

Is there anything more annoying than a vampire with a conscience? Bill is starting to get on my nerves with his pangs of conscience. I guess that's the nature of his character in this series, but instead of it being a plus, it's turning into a definite minus.

Jason and Sarah do it in the church. Hoyt and Jessica share intimate secrets about their virginity. Hugo tells Steve Sookie's last name then Steve goes after Jason. There's some debate over who is the traitor, and it turns out to be Hugo. Daphne tells Sam that Maryann is an immortal and tries to convince him to voluntarily join her (Maryann). Unfortunately for Daphne, Maryann apparently has no more use for her, and a pie-eyed Eggs sticks a knife in her.

Just when it appears that Sookie is going to get "Deliveranced" by Gabe, Godric appears and saves the day.

A Chick Running with a Bull Mask is Hilarious
rwk216 July 2010
Overall this episode was good and the storytelling is solid. But it wouldn't be any fun without mentioning the two big distractions. First, Maryann chasing Sam is just plain funny. It's obvious the actress couldn't move very fast (probably couldn't see out of the bullhead mask) and watching her wobble stops the scene dead. Funny though.

The second thing is Godric. So far his character is intriguing, but how did he come to save Sookie? He just appears out of nowhere and nobody questions it. Bam! Suddenly he's there saving the day. The lifeline to this part though is that it's already been established vampires adhere to a fairly strict hierarchy so they don't question, they get told by their superiors what's what. I'm just surprised Sookie, who for being a telepath her whole life can't manage to contain her surprise at all, about anything, doesn't ask. Actually, her character is getting to be less likable as time goes on.

We'll see how it pans out for the Stackhouse family...

S2.E7 - Perfect Episode [9.6/10]
panagiotis19934 November 2023
Warning: Spoilers
(S2. E7) My Live Reaction / Review for True Blood Season 2 Episode 7 ''Release Me''. Episode 6 was good and I gave it a rating of 9/10. Let's see if this one is better or worse. Jason sleeping with the leader's wife was such a bad idea. Jason's decisions are always dumb. Hoyt is a virgin? That's adorable. Wait Sookie doesn't know that Jason joined this cult? So Hugo is the traitor who works for the FOTS? I didn't see that coming. When Tara will realize the truth about Maryann? Sarah shot Jason? What's going on? Maryann made Eggs kill Daphne? Why? I like that we get to see flashbacks about the relationship between Bill and Lorena. Perfect episode, my rating is 9.6/10.
