Everything the Birds of Prey movie isn't.
verminhater14 June 2020
I write this after watching the drivel that was the Harley Quinn movie "Birds of Prey". Where the live action was unable to articulate a story and relied solely on Margot Robbie to carry the entire film the animation steps up and shows them how it should be done.

Kaley Cuoco makes Harley come to life every bit as much as Margot does but here she's ably assisted by many other interesting characters, by scriptwriters who can tell a joke and heaven forbid an actual storyline too which is woven out across the entirety of the two series so far. It's funny, it makes you care for the characters and it appears that the best talent is working in animation.

I suspect the end product is often better in animation because it usually starts with someone who has a story to tell rather than an accountant with a formula film to churn out. I sincerely hope there's a third series because anyone cancelling this ought to be the ones in Arkham.

One Hell of Cartoon from DC Comics!
nasdagoodshepherd5 December 2019
I was by far excited to watch the new adult animated series from DC Universe, Harley Quinn. I watched the first episode and it was great as hell! Harley Quinn is such a fantastic villain to be a fantastic protagonist in the series, the violence, the animation, the writing, and the humor is very amazing! And I can easily say that this show is so great to watch. Now it became one of my favorite animated DC shows since Teen Titans, Young Justice, and DC Super Hero Girls (2019). I give Harley Quinn a 9.5/10

I didn't think anything could make me care about "New" Harley, I was wrong.
rynetate4 January 2020
As a fan of the original introduction of the character in Batman: The Animated Series I always had a soft spot in my heart for Harley Quinn. Finding out about her relationship with Ivy made me even more happy years later. As a lifelong comic book reader I kept up with Harley and always loved when she would show up in Batman titles. The Margot Robbie version of the character certainly looks right (despite my love of her original costume much more so than other interpretations) but the script she was working with in "Suicide Squad" was laughable. The "New 52" version of Harley is hard to root for as she murders innocents on several occasions. But then this little gem of a show with an all-star cast, terrific animation, and just outright AMAZING writing comes out and makes me want more! I was so sad to realise that this is only a six episode season. I am chomping at the bit for more. I only hope that the comic book version of Harley has come around to reflect this version and isn't just DC's maniacally evil version of Deadpool. Well done, and keep it coming! The writers, cast, and animators on this show deserve a ton of praise!

Top Tier

A fresh take on Gotham filled with flavour and fun. Every character has been given relatable human flaws and speak in conversational casual lending them so much more believability and dimension. The Ivy-Harley chemistry is natural and nothing about this show despite the occasional high fantasy shenanigan seems forced. Worked its way to my top animated shows of all time very quickly and I genuinely hope you love it too.

This Harley is superb
jeffcour21 March 2021
This is Harley Quinn done right. Hilarious and touching, smart, witty, sarcastic, exciting, gloriously gory, and a tremendous send-up of the whole supervillian / superhero genre. Even though these are superheroes and villains, they all have very real human flaws, and the creators have a LOT of fun making them (especially Batman, Bane and Commissioner Gordon) as ridiculous as possible. Harley and Ivy are bad villains, but they are good people. Their chemistry is electric. The Joker is at war with himself and Harley while determined to blow up the city. And the supporting cast, voiced by stellar actors, is just icing on the cake. This show is addictive and pure fun. You WILL enjoy it.

A homerun
rodyvanhulst13 December 2019
Great animation, very funny, made for adults and great voice acting. Every episode so far had been a blast its really refreshing to see the bounds of animated super hero series being pushed.

There is lots of voilence, gore and adult theme'd content in this serie and i love it. This is how animated shows should be dc has another HOMERUN :)

wacky, brutal, unique, and gutwrenching

I was nervous about this series. i was particularly nervous about the casting of cuoco as the lead; she's a very talented lady, but i was unsure if she was perfect for harley. i'm still not ENTIRELY sure she was, but she did a damn good job convincing me. by the end of the episode, her voice work had pushed me onto her side. the humor in this show is very unique. it has a brilliant tone of deranged zany madness, and it's just perfect for harley. i really loved it, and i cannot wait for more.

Harley Quinn Rocks
Tweetienator4 January 2020
I am really no fan of new DC movies and shows these days but I admit and I am happy that I can state: Harley Quinn is a lot of fun to watch. We get everything an adult needs in a good show: cursing, blood, violence, bad but good humor and some likeable villain characters and some boring cardbox superheros. All in all: a very good and entertaining animation show for adults.

Finally another good animation show for adults! Why can DC only be good in animation? This show is brutal, fast, chaotic - like it!

WTF Just like Young Justice season 3 SUCKS
LazyLeafs198517 August 2022
First YJ now this?!? HBO what are you doing??? Season 1 & 2 were outstanding but season 3 is well below par. The jokes, writing and pacing are all off. The crew do nothing and are basically glorified cheerleaders now.

The depiction that every man is an idiot is getting a little much. Same jokes over and over again. The musicals are cringe and just not good. They need to watch Bobs burgers for some inspiration I think.

Feels like the writers didn't know how to progress and now they are just spinning the wheels. Tbh the show is boring now.

The HBO - DC merger has been a mixed bag. Happy to see the shows I love still being made but I can't deny the obvious dip in quality since.

How the heck don't you like this???
hotrobinproductions1 December 2019
What's up with some low rated reviews? If you don't like it, you don't like it, but anything lower than 4 stars is just completely unnecessary. The animation is amazing. The voice acting is awesome, the show feels like a rush of adrenaline and has a very good message with a smart style that I was NOT expecting. I feel like everyone is complaining about violence and cursing... if that's too much for you then why even bother? You know what type of show this would be from trailers. Violence and swearing has been in plenty of films like Quinton Tarantino, but I don't see you guys complaining about that. Just STFU and enjoy a good show when you see one. No way does this show deserve a 1/10 very dumb opinion, and the reasons behind your guys opinion is just absurd.

Well
taylamell30 June 2022
I've tried three times now to like this show. Everyone raves about its humor, and I thought that maybe it was the serious miscasting on voice actors that was keeping me from seeing that... but no. There's something clever at work, I'll give it that, but as it highlights things about DC's Gothamites that are either funny (when you think about it) or can be analyzed in a different way, the show is also egregiously annoying. From the dialogue, the voice acting, the line delivery, hell even the jokes themselves, the show is just not that good. Crass for the sake of crass is the best way to describe it.

This is a MUST watch DC animated show...
paul_haakonsen15 September 2022
Right, well I only just got on the "Harley Quinn" express here in 2022. I knew about this animated series, but just never opted to actually sit down and watch it, as I didn't really have much of an interest in the Harley Quinn character.

But then I sat down and watched a single episode, the first episode of season one, of course. And color me impressed, I was immediately hooked. And I sat through all three seasons that are available at this time in a very, very short time.

Yeah, this animated series from Justin Halpern, Dean Lorey and Patrick Schumacker totally blew me away. I was immediately caught up in the storyline, and as the show went on, the storyline got better and better.

The character gallery in "Harley Quinn" is nothing short of spectacular. There are so many wonderful characters in the show. And I must admit that after having sat through 3 seasons of "Harley Quinn", then I have become a fan of the DC comic character, so much that I will actually start reading the comic books. There are lots of nice cameo from DC characters as well, so there is something for the more seasoned DC fan veteran, but also for us newcomers.

With "Harley Quinn" being an animated series, then it is fairly dependent on having a good voice acting cast ensemble. And oh boy, does it ever? Yeah, they have hired some really great talents for bringing the characters to life on the screen here.

The art and animation in the series is good. I definitely like the art style here, and the colors are just great. There is so much to take in in each episode, that "Harley Quinn" can be watched more than once.

"Harley Quinn" was definitely an amazing surprise of a series, and this is something that I will continue to watch for as long as they keep putting out new episodes.

It should be noted that "Harley Quinn" has a fair amount of graphic violence, foul language and adult jokes throughout the series, which may not be suitable by just everyone.

My rating of "Harley Quinn" lands on an eight out of ten stars.

Hilarious, entertaining, Harley done right!
bob_the29 November 2019
I didn't know if this show was going to be anything special, but its absolutely hilarious and fun. Reminds me a lot of crazy Rick and Morty season 1/2 episodes. Cuoco is great, I never thought she would be great as Harley, but she is fantastic. The best portrayal of Harley since BTAS.

As a Batman fan, the writing is great. Joker takes a backseat in this story, but thats fine. Its Harley's show. Every other character is done really well, very meta and smart use of old-school characters like Ivy, Calendar Man and etc.

Definitely a must watch for any Harley Quinn fan, Batman fan.

Great Fun
Pairic5 July 2020
Harley Quinn: The animated series, very much an adult show. She spends most of the time battling The Joker and other villains rather than Batman. She hangs out with Poison Ivy and gathers together a gang of sidekicks. No one is perfect in this production, very many human failings and hang-ups. Good fun. 8/10.

Refreshing take on DC classics
pricewilliamsmegan16 September 2022
I absolutely adore the writing and characterization in this show. The ensemble is well-rounded and calls back to aspects of the characters that are usually forgotten, sometimes pokes fun at DC's own tropes, and allows them to grow and develop in ways that haven't been done before in other media. The animation style is also beautiful to watch! While the show centers on Harley, it takes the time to explore other prominent DC characters such as the Bat Fam and Joker, as well as characters often thrown to the wayside (Bane, Clayface, King Shark, etc.). This is one of my top favorite shows of all time, and I'm so excited to see what they do with it in the next season. Cob squad forever 🌽

Not our brand of evil
nogodnomasters16 July 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Harley breaks up with Joker and moves in with Poison Ivy. Her goal is to pull enough jobs to be recognized to be able to join The Legion Of Doom, pretty much an all-boys club. She gets a group of misfit henchmen to help her.

The language was very adult with F-words being dropped right and left. I loved the humor, male-bashing, and insults. The dialogue was excellent. I also loved listening to Kaley Cuoco swear like a sailor. I didn't know Harlen Quinnzel was Jewish. Great interaction between Harley and Poison Ivy,

Not for kids.

A Great off the wall first season
alindsayal18 December 2021
So in the UK the first season of the DC Animated Show Harley Quinn finished today and I have now watched all of it and here is my review for the show. The premise of the show sees a newly single Harley Quinn set off to become the biggest supervillain in all of Gotham.

Main Character Kaley Cuoco best known for her role on The Big Bang Theory voices Harley Quinn here and she is fantastic. She nails the character in every way, Harley isn't an evil person its just she is really damaged and Cuoco does a great job in showing this, Harley is likeable but also does some terrible things which makes her a great character to watch. But the show also does a great job in showing a vulnerable side to her especially with her relationships with The Joker & Poison Ivy which show her in a really interesting unique way.

Supporting Characters As I said Poison Ivy has a large role here and I thought she was great, her dynamic and friendship with Harley is really the main thing to get invested in in this show and their chemistry together is a huge part of that. It's nice seeing some lesser known characters get the shine here Clayface, King Shark & Dr Psycho are parts of Harley's crew and they are really fun characters and provide some great laughs. Alan Tudyk voices The Joker here and he does a great job here, the dynamic between the two characters is great and Tudyk really brings his own blend to the role which is difficult when we have seen so many people take on the role. There are plenty of established comic book characters on show here such as Batman, Gordon & Lex Luthor but my favourite was easily Bane, I thought he was so funny and his voice in itself was one of the best jokes of the show.

Story The story, is a fun story of the underdogs trying to get noticed by the bigger villains which builds some hilarious moments. Seeing this crew of misfits interact is really entertaining and fun, also there is some depth to some of the stories as I mentioned earlier which is done well. Though I did have a bit of an issue with some of the supporting storylines, they weren't particularly interesting and it felt like an excuse to try and flesh out some of the other characters that didn't feel necessary.

Script The script has some really funny dialogue, if you like pop culture references and DC references then this is a show right up your ally just like it is for me. Also there is some really well done drama here in the relationships of Harley Quinn. Just because this show is animated, don't believe that this show is for kids, there is some crude language here and most of the time it works. Though this show suffers sometimes of lacking clever writing so throws in swears and it feels too much at times but this is a small gripe.

Style This show has a really distinct style, the animation looks great and provides some great action sequences. It is super violent though which here I thought really worked and was a great choice. Also with the episodes only being 20 minutes it flows very nicely and is an easy watch.

Overall Overall, this is a great animated show, it is for adults and fans of DC films so is for a specific audience but I feel like this is such an entertaining watch that I have to recommend it.

Rating - 8/10.

good
djurrepower27 August 2020
Watched season 1 and 2. s1 felt a little more streamlined, and season 2 felt like it had a lot of the leftover ideas of s1. but sure overall pretty good series that made me laugh. sometimes it felt like the show tried a little too hard being funny, quirky, progressive and woke. but ill allow it.

7/10: good

DC Should Stick to Cartoons
rickyspanish1422 November 2022
This show kicks butt, and so does Harley Quinn. Season 1 and 2 are creative and fun to watch. Lake Bell as Poison Ivy is great casting and she is the heart of this show. I'd definitely recommend watching as this is an easy, digestible "snack" show - but I did have to knock off a start on my overall writing because Season 3 definitely felt like it was dragging it's feet. The relationship between Harley and Ivy is growing stale and the lack of King Shark (everyone's favorite character) is noticeable. I'm ready for next season, but we need some new characters and a shake-up to this anti-hero squad.

Season 4 Has Lost a Spark
charlie-2777128 September 2022
The first three seasons of Harley Quinn were spectacular. The witty comentary on issues of Harley Quinn's evolution form Joker's Girlfriend to her own Villan was complimented by a ensemble of interesting characters that didn't hold any bars back in dialogue and expression of their own thoughts and actions. The show did a brilliant thing by mixing modern everyday life with the chaotic nature of supervillains and sometimes insane grotesque violence acts they do. However in season 4 they've tired to introduce the hero/villan dichotomy into the show by introducing the bay family and the old Harley Quinn Anti-Hero journey. I'm sorry guys but it just doesn't work when you have bat girl team up and be friends with Harley Quinn after she brutally murders people with a bat. When you introduce hard hitting moral heroes like Batman, batgirl etc, it's hard to bounce right back to aworkplace comedy/violent Villainous Escapades because it completely derails the hero's good intention in any validity. The last two qualms I have about the season 4 is how they make Bruce a horribly desperate loser, especially when it comes to Selina. Batman whole relationship with Catwoman is that he's in love with her but can't pursue that relationship because of his stance against all crime. His jumping over hoops for her makes no sense when his first commintment is always to be Batman before Bruce Wayne. Don't even get me started on Dick Grayson... they completely sucked away away his inner battle of fighting against the impulse to be his own hero that can balance his vigilante/civilian life versus being consumed by Batman's mission/crusade.

Funny, crazy, violent
cherold4 January 2020
This anti-hero saga is hilariously funny, as sidekick Harley Quinn breaks up with Joker and attempts to start her own misfit gang with the help of best buddy Poison Ivy.

It's generally hilarious and should be watched. Just be aware there's a surprising amount of blood and broken bones for a cartoon.

DC made their own Venture Bros
mandykow92924 October 2021
Warning: Spoilers
If you're a fan of Venture Bros, itself a parody of superhero and adventure comics, then you will like this show. It's the DC characters, but made into its own adult swim cartoons and I'm a big fan. I'm glad they can take their own IP and make some jokes and have some fun, but there is a lot of heart to the characters too. Gordon is an overworked alcoholic who is slowly going insane, but can be brought back by his daughter's love. Harley is able to realize she was in an abusive relationship with the help of her friends. It's funny and super violent, but has a surprisingly good storyline throughout. I'm excited for next season.
