Not bad! Except!
jaccer117 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It was all good. Until they made JJ confess her "love" for Reed... Which felt like a best friend saying it to another. But, they made it way more complicated than it is.

What a wedding (he said sarcastically)
adrock1247212 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Huge hall, 10+ tables, epic cake....guess they spent the budget on Mathis because no guests other than "the team". Guess the new bride doesn't have any friends. My wife and I laughed so hard at the lack of guests.

Cake?
tlcorsel27 March 2021
Why in the world did they have a cake that would feed 200 people for a wedding with 12 people? I don't for a minute think they are pushing a romance, just a best friend "I love you"

Right up there with S11 E11 "Entropy"

Warning: Spoilers
Let's just say I think the other reviewers are under rating this episode. Any of the episodes where Reid is front and center are great.

This was no exception. The story had me on the edge of my seat the entire episode. I found it engaging, suspenseful, and enjoyable all throughout.

What other reviewers didnt like was JJ confessing to Reid how she's felt all along. It's honestly something fans should've seen coming since Gifeon gave Reid the San Fran tickets and told him to ask her out. Throughout the entire series they've both had feelings for each other and the show made no attempt to hide it. Besides, what better way to get fans to return for the final season than to see if Reid gets to tell JJ how he feels?

It's worth your time. Give it a chance.

Finally, what I wanted to see came.
XueHuaBingYu7 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Truth or Dare can be said that one of my favourite episodes and it's on the top of the list. Mostly because of the fact that JJ has feelings for Spence. When JJ first appeared on screen, I wanted her to end up with Spence. I felt like they are the perfect match. But unfortunately, JJ married her husband (sorry that his name always slip out of my mind. I can't remember his name.), I was so sad. In this episode, JJ finally confessed that she loved and still loves Spence, I was very happy. It's too bad that JJ didn't end up with Spencer.

All in all, Criminal Minds always makes me satisfied. Although there are some facts that I don't like, it's still one of the best TV shows I've ever seen. Too bad that it's going to end soon. If it's possible, I want it to go to infinity and beyond. 😁

Never written a review before but i had to
annadeeb7 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
As a huge fan of criminal minds i really felt the need to comment! This episode was not worthy of a finale! The story was slow and the unsub was not interesting! I felt that this episode was just meant for JJ's confession to Reid which was an absolute disaster . He is her family and the Godfather of her children. Her husband Will proved to be the perfect husband and supported her the whole way! I don't understand why they wanted to ruin a happy family and a more like brother/sister love. I thought this episode was awkward. I hope they dont ruin season 15 our final season as fans with this distastreous storyline.

JJ AND REID?
nexttosammy23 August 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I don't know if the writers forced this story or what. Earlier seasons, I'd always wanted to see them as romantic partners, despite the team teasing them that JJ is Reid's "Mommy". But they probably only have not more than 5 years age gap (actress AJ Cook is 2 years older than Matthew), they could've worked if Reid wasn't so socially awkward lol. BUT then JJ met Will, they were happy. I was okay with it too. I love that JJ are close with Reid, cares about him, worries about him, but then I started to see that that's big sister love... not romance. Well, I guess it was just shocking for me.

Season finale?
igrekss14 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Only today I found out that this was the season finale, because I couldn't find the new episode. It felt like the least "finale" episode of all the season finales. Yeah, Rossi got married and everything, but nothing happened to the unsub from the "Chameleon" episode. This story is left "hanging in the air". And even more- the unsub and his motivation in this episode felt absolutely stupid. I mean- guy kills people in accident because of "Dare", gets jail time, but thinks that everyone around him deserves punishment, and he is innocent because someone Dared him. There are stupid people, for sure, but they wouldn't act like this.

Instead of normal 20+ episodes season, they've split it into two seasons (15 + 10 episodes). Feels kinda lazy.

Truth or Dare
bobcobb30126 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The case this week was fine. It was intense and it gave longtime fans of the program a big moment and tease of romance in the final season.

Unfortunately, the romance stuff is the reason for my mediocre score. Please let this be the end of us getting a glimpse into Rossi's love life.

Uh what the hell?
bethanballard19 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I got excited going into the episode because there was a wedding, meaning all the consistent back story people would turn up including my favourite Will LaMontagne. Genuinely not interested in Rossi get married, and sadly the actual case was deeply lacking (previous episode was the first one in a while that had me double checking doors and lights before bed). The whole JJ admitting she loved Reid thing really bothered me. Initially I was like oh yeah ok platonic. Then the awkward looks, ok not platonic; and you're ruining everything! JJ and Will have been perfect whenever we've seen them since they first met, their long distance relationship, her denial, her pregnancy, their marriage, at the end of a harrowing episode (for her) he's always there and now from literally nowhere she's loves Reid and not like the brother she has always said he is? It makes me not like them and they've been my favourites since day 1. So I repeat, what the hell? If season 15 heads down the route of destroying 14 seasons of maintaining consistent storylines and developing characters, for a romance between two of the longest characters I for one will just not be watching it.

Weak main plot, but there's something I see different than most...
alextaylor-7660627 June 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Two (!) cops putting down their guns when a known killer is aiming at them? Total nonsense.

I don't get the judge either, who had a fair chance of shooting the bad guy for quite some time. Quite possibly the only chance to survive, when you are locked in with two stupid cops who let themselves be disarmed so easily...

But okay, she wasn't trained for such a situation, and a mother wants to save her daughter at any price, so I can accept that. But NOT JJ and Reid putting down their guns, to say it again.

In spite of not being a shipper, I found the JJ/Reid situation very well played and credible. It was especially the awkwardness of the whole thing that saved it for me. It does happen, You know? Two people having a special bond an become friends for years. They have their separate lives, but maybe at times over the years feelings come up that border on romance or even more - but not at the same time for both, or they simply feel that they don't want to destroy the lives they have. Or their friendship.

Noone is save from developing new feelings, but for now it looks that JJ and Reid wanted to be honest about it, but will try to handle the situation like responsible adults do. Did they feel awkward? Certainly so, but I don't think the actors did, but the persons they portray, and Matthew and A.J. definitely made me feel with JJ and Reid. Best acting I have seen in CM for a long time.

I just hope the writers don't take the easy way and kill off Will... I expect some more bittersweet moments - and hopefully some better written main plots.

Could have been a better season finale...
jmdarden-2510231 October 2019
Warning: Spoilers
There have definitely been episodes that were better than others over the years. This one was so so. JJ's "admission" that she's always loved Reid was a surprise but hard to know if it was true or if JJ grasped at a partially true concept to satisfy the UnSub holding them hostage. I read the other reviews and am curious about the references to "ship" or "ships". Is it short for viewership? I'm not being critical or anything, I am genuinely curious. If anybody reads this and cares to comment I would certainly welcome it. There were several comments about Rossi's wedding being out of place or inappropriate but I must be a bit of a romantic. With all the scary blood and guts, mysterious and suspenseful elements to a show filled with and based on violence, I find the romance and previous wedding scenes (like JJ and Will's) and birth of children a bit of relief from the usual tension. I realize the show is total fiction when it comes to real life FBI. I could be wrong but I doubt a small group of profilers is whisked away on a Gulfstream jet at a moment's notice...but the show's enjoyable nonetheless. Again, if anybody has a comment on the "ships" thing, that'd be great!

Oh God
OurGeneration26 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I think the plot of the episode, the killer of the week are going to be forgotten in this episode, what else is going to talk about and remember this episode is that JJ is in love with Reid, this really left me with an open mouth and state of shock

I thought this about the romantic relationship between Reid and JJ was there for the second season

I really do not know how to feel about this episode, I'm surprised that JJ secretly kept his feelings towards Reid all these years and disguised them in feelings of friendship and brotherhood

We'll see what happens in the last season

Baffled at the direction they took here...
organicoreo14 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
Before we get to the part everyone has been talking about, I want to say that this episode started out with potential, and there ARE many decent parts of it. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing the more casual team interaction at the beginning of the episode, and these are part of the reasons why I enjoy this show. The case itself had potential, but was not quite executed that well. I liked the idea of having an unsub that "didn't want anything" so he couldn't be negotiated with. I thought the chaos of unsub was great, but fizzled out with the oddness of his "game." Alvez had some amusing moments with Rossi and Tara, but everyone else was very average and I didn't see many standout performances. The "truth or dare game" with JJ and the unsub seemed very forced into the episode, like a forced theme they wanted to have through to the end of the episode. It just didn't work for me and wasn't believable at all that the unsub would play along.

I'm sure many people agree, but the absolute worst thing about this episode was JJ "confessing" her love for Reid. It was a completely odd, out of left field turn that felt more like the show writers trying to tease and please JJ/Reid fans before the end of the show. Reid had a small crush on JJ in the first season of the show, but that would've been about ten or so years ago, and it's so odd that it would make him ponder over this "chance" with a married JJ now or the idea that their relationship would even go anywhere. There has never been any hints or inklings of JJ seeing Reid as anything more than a friend or even brother, and their close platonic relationship was a positive in this show. Not to mention, JJ and Will's relationship is one of the best and most developed ones on the show and it seems completely ridiculous that they would even try to tease the possibility of JJ jeopardizing her marriage and family for a crush? It's understandable for her to say it out of the blue to keep her and Reid alive but it's really cringy and weird for her to drag it out at Rossi's wedding. It's pretty obvious to me that these shots at the wedding are meant to stir up drama and mislead viewers before probably ending the awkwardness next season but man, was this bad.

Rossi's wedding was alright. For someone like Rossi who had far more memorable and grand parties for agents leaving, it was odd that his wedding felt the complete opposite of grand and posh. It was massively brought down by the JJ/Reid tension and Prentiss, who usually has great performances, had such an awkward and unfunny speech. I personally enjoyed the interactions between Alvez and Garcia, and I suspect that Lisa may soon be out of the picture considering her appearances have completely stopped. I would not be surprised if the show writers decided to pair Alvez and Garcia together next season.

Especially considering this is a season finale, this was a massive disappointment. The case done very quickly and poorly executed, which kept it from being memorable. The only memorable thing is the JJ/Reid drama, and it was definitely memorable, but in a very bad way. Overall, not a good episode at all, and it definitely ruins an otherwise decent season for me.

So Krystall doesn't have any friends
richardmolenschot21 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I hate sloppy cheap tv-weddings where there are barely any relatives and friends. So only the BAU got to go, one two spouses, two daughters and a famous singer. Well, talk about bad make-believe.

Do like Gail o Grady as Rossi's new wife. And for a wedding or final episode NOT to end in blood. For that reason 6/10.

But for a season finale, boy, it was a very mediocre storyline. Especially the truth or dare scene with JJ. I would've expected something like 'I sometimes enjoyed killing', or 'i have a dark criminal side nobody knows about' but not the soft and unbelievably confession she made now.

Sloppy writing, cheap productional choices, luckily decent acting saves the episode from a very low score, but overal: meh...

I can't.
reginamiller13 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
As far as the episode itself, the plot, the unsub etc. it's fine. Not nearly good enough for a season finale in my opinion but not bad for any other episode.

My biggest issue? The writers trying to make Reid x JJ a thing. Even if you're a fan of that pairing you have to admit it really doesn't work within this setup. Suddenly JJ is admitting to being in love with Spencer who she's known for 14 ish years? The Godfather of her children? This is a woman who on multiple occasions has expressed her familial love for Spencer but romantic love? It doesn't track and where would this revelation leave her relationship with Will who she clearly loves.

For me it doesn't track and to be honest the way they played it doesn't make JJ look like a good person which is such an unkind thing to do to one of your original characters. Even if this relationship was pre-planned , which I doubt given the slap in the face feel of it, it could've been handled much better. I am seriously concerned that they will spend even a moment of their final season with this ridiculous oh does she really love me, do I really love Spencer more than Will . Please please just set it back down and make the final season the best you've had in years. Do it for all of us who have been with you for so long now.

The JJ/Reid thing was awful!
anamaria_matis19 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The episode was okay, not great, but okay, until they put in that awful thing about JJ being in love with Spencer. They have built the perfect friendship relationship, of course they love each other, more like brother and sister, don't ruin such a beautiful friendship with cheap soap-opera crap! JJ and Will have such a good relationship, an actual loving and supporting family, without all the unnecessary drama that is so annoying in so many shows, and now they want to ruin it, and for what? God, I hate this nonsense! They should clear this and let them be best friends, as before!

What the actual...?!
nicknack113 April 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I agree with a lot of people that this was a terrible last episode, especially since next season is their last. It's literally the last major cliffhanger they could have written, but no, instead they decide to warp the amazing, perfectly platonic relationship between Reid and JJ. I'm not being funny, because I love a good romance as much as the next person, maybe more, but I felt so cheated by what they were insinuating. JJ loves Reid, yes, it's so inherently obvious that they love each other...why does it have to be romantic for it to be valid?!!! OMG, I just hate when shows do that! I will read fanfiction till the cows come home. I love a good ship and I love reading almost any ship, whether it makes sense or not. But this kind of twisted end and terribly forced confession of love does not belong on screen as canon. I'm sorry, but that's just how I feel. I spent the last ten minutes of that episode waiting for the two of them to have a conversation that went along the lines of 'I do love but not in that way, I was just trying to save us - me too I get you, we're all good, you didn't even need to explain - followed by a lot of laughs and few sighs of relief. I was so upset that instead all we got was awkward looks (not even longing ones) and a weird little half-conversation that seemed to undermine JJ's actual marriage (whilst her husband was in the freaking room!) and Reid's beautifully written character ten year development. I am so deeply frustrated and unhappy with this! And to be honest, it looked like the actors weren't all that pleased with it and were just doing the best they could with what they had.

Poor writing has Feds dropping guns when asked
tkjunkmail7 February 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Once again hollywood script writers have law enforcement officers dropping their guns when asked by a known murderous felon, even though 2 of them have the drop on the killer. Both law officers, as told earlier in the story, having scored perfect grades on shooting range. I come from a family of cops(a cousin and 2 nephews) and believe me they would NEVER drop their guns based on a demand from an armed felon, especially when he has exposed his head to a deadly shot.

Yet I have seen this plot twist used in countless cop shows on TV. What world do these writers live in. Don't they do any research at all before rolling out this tired plot point?

I Threw Up In My Mouth A Little
willowknightblade20 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
I am literally squicked!! The thought of JJ and Reid as anything more than sister/brother is just wrong. JJ is married. Spencer is her children's Godfather. Will is Spencer's friend. It's creepy. It's weak writing. It's a cheep shot. You want a powerful moment bring back Hotchner. That will stun the audience. I love that Rossi is getting a happily ever after. (I hope)

Started promising and faded miserably
Gustavo_Valadares16 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode built a lot of interesting things with the missing serial killer with high disguising skills and issues with Rossi on the record, the upcoming marriage of Rossi and the third wife, the tense relationship between JJ and Reid and a psychopath playing puppet master with his victims transforming them in surrogate killers. A lot of subplots with potential for tense and interesting development that by the exact middle of the episode derails miserably.

While the serial killer transforming his hostages into forced killer it's a fascinated story for Criminal Minds audience, by the end of the episode suddenly he became like a child bent on playing a violent game of "Truth or Dare" only, Reid and JJ suddenly surrender to the killer because the plot needed and his takeover was completely insane: the killer puts a pause with the main issue that made him a killer to power play with JJ while Reid reached his new secondary gun alluded at the beginning of the episode without being noticed by the killer. A secondary gun that apparently he used to cheat his shooting test and that, by the way, couldn't help him to avoid the issue that put him in prison in the previous season (the main point that made him bought this second gun). A little under average ending for the main plot, but ok I guess...

The most shocking and baffling reason to absolutely dislike this episode however it's how they defiled JJ and Reid relationship that was carefully handled for 14 years! It's true that in the first 2 or 3 seasons of the show it was built a romantic tension plot between the two of them but this issue was long ago buried and ended 12 years ago, JJ stated to see him as best friend, found the love of her life which became a sporadic staff in the show, had 2 kids and a husband that are very close to the team and never looked back in this decision... until now. Since the ending of the previous season the show ther writters decded to try very softly revive this unholy plot where JJ had still feelings for Reid that weirdly enough she ignored for 10 or more years while best friends with him. A light hint of what was about to come always dreaded the core audience of the show when Reid was taken hostage and JJ got desperate thinking about losing him in a romantic way or when she called him in the previous episode asking if he ever though about his projected future in some other way like she were doing now (implying that she was beginning to fantasized them together in a platonic romance). In a very poorly, gross and disasteful manner they ended the episode with JJ confessing his love and feelings for Reid under gunpoint, not taking back this absurd aftewards and even indirectly saying that they were meant to be together. There is even a scene were the show brings a speach implying that doesn't matter if it took a lot of years, it's ok JJ throwing her whole family and relashionship characteristics just to chase a new adventure with Reid because... it's fate. This hits like a slap in the face of the audience, it's almost like saying "forget everything you know about Criminal Minds protagonists and all we built so far, let's restructure the whole show dynamic". Nobody wants that!!!

Finally, there is the good old season finale tension that the audience expects which makes us wonder if anyone will be hurt by the end, if some serial killer will show up again, some plot twist will keep us engaged to watch the next season or if they will deliver a happy and relieving conclusion. There is a lot of build up to Rossi's wedding which makes the audience expect something big will happen there, a serial killer is on the loose, every big protagonist and even a special guest appears but nothing happens and, worst of all, that were no calm nor tense ending, it stopped awkward and uncomfortably.

They are taking a lot of risks reviving resolved issues in the series, mostly have worked, like the Rossi third wife reappearing (when it was stablished long ago that he was not looking for marriages anymore) or the suicide of JJ sister (which they decided to put a twist in it) but this romantic plot now is a complete absurd that should be stopped even in the conception stage.

One of the worst season finales I've seen!
